Our stay at Hillview

Perfect location for our stay. The house was roomy and comfortable. The owners kindly provided a fire drum so the boys could enjoy a camp fire.

A cottage in the outback, but near the Flanders Ranges & the small town of Hawker. All the comforts of home & beautiful sunsets to watch.

The cottage is a good base to explore the Flinders Ranges. It can be reached via unsealed roads only, but for those who love peace and quiet it is a gem. We loved seeing the sun rise and set over the vast empty spaces, and visits from the owners' pets.

Peaceful and quiet

This little cottage is 70's style, no frills but has all you need for a stay close to Wilpena without other people around. The sunsets are amazing and the location perfect for exploring the Flinders Ranges.

Secluded little spot

Great location. Way better than a caravan park/cabin as there is no one else around for miles (except the owners house nearby). Perfect for a family of 4. Would definitely return.

Lovely Cabin

The property was very homely and cosy. My parents and I really enjoyed our time there and hope to visit again someday. It was in a wonderful peaceful location where you could see the stars. Emily was a great host, very fast to respond to any questions. Highly recommend, thanks Emily!

Hillview Cottage was a great place to serve as a base as we explored the lower Flinders Ranges. It was clean, well set up and exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were friendly clear in their communication.

Private, quiet and with laundry and outdoor clothes line in addition to a functional kitchen. Loved the welcoming committee of cat, dogs and chickens who were all friendly but did not bowl us over. The location is perfect. Not far out of Hawker and we were given easy to follow directions. From here it is an easy drive to Wilpena Pound and the southern Flinders Ranges.

Nice tidy property well equipped and comfortable. Nice large bed Easy to find. Good access to Flinders Ranges Shower could be sealed at the bottom of the screen to stop water flooding the toilet area

The serenity!

What a wonderful place to stay! The cabin is only about 8 km from Hawker but the place is utterly quiet and peaceful with views of the Flinders Ranges all around. Night sky to die for and as a special treat the farm's little dog and cat come over for visits. Never mind the decor's a little dated, it's very livable and surprisingly spacious. King bed a definite bonus.

Beautiful small cottage

Beautiful small cottage which was exactly what we needed, supplied more things then we expected which is always great. The view around the house was incredible and so nice to see the sunrise over the ranges. And the cat is just so gorgeous and friendly, hangs around the house.

Great value and position

It’s a really nice little place, perhaps a little tired, but that being said it provides undeniable value for money and cleanliness is second to none. If you are looking for a rural hideaway close to all Ikara-Flinders has to offer then this is the spot. We’ll be going back.

Flinders Ranges Summer Holidays

The little cottage was cute, and comfortably accommodated the 4 of us. There is an electric stove, fridge and comfortable beds, and fans in bedrooms, air conditioner in the living / kitchen area. The cottage is about 15 mins driver from Hawker. Hawker is the closest place to buy basic groceries, best to stock up in the summer from Port Agusta. The cottage provided us with a comfortable two night stay as we discovered the Flinders Ranges.

trip for work crazy weather

I stayed at hill view cottage twice over a 3 week period for work. Main thing with this property is that if you want a base camp to go to the flinders etc then this is a great place for you. My stay was an interesting one due to 2 pretty crazy storms, on my 2nd stay there was HEAVY rain the last night of my stay but the hosts were kind enough to lead me out a different route back to hawker and make sure i didn't get myself bogged on the way out. If you want a taste of expansive outback scenery this is the place for you, main bed is super comfy too.
