Exactly what we needed! We booked an hour or so before arriving, and had a safe, clean room as well as parking. Friendly and straightforward check in - thanks hotel le Canada

A small local property run by a very nice man. The room and overall property is what you would expect for 2 stars - older, a bit quaint, nothing fancy at all, but clean and comfortable beds. The owner was very helpful and offered good recommendations for food and sites to visit. A five minute walk to the beach (Sword beach) and directly on D-514 (the road to follow to see nearly all the D-Day sites). Between towns, so no easy walk to restaurants, but the hotel offers breakfast. I'd stay here again.

Cheap and cheerful
It was cheap and cheerful ,room clean and basic , shower worked but the mounting for the shower head missing and couple holes in the wall where something was fitted. I was not expecting the Ritz but it was ideal for a cheap base to travel from.

Cold room
Low price but very basic accommodation. Heater in the bedroom didn't work and were told it was because it wasn't cold enough outside and advised to put the one on in the bathroom and leave the door open. Curtains over the door and window were very ripped and difficult to use without standing on a chair. All in all glad it was only one night. Wouldn't use this again. Is useful because it's not too far from the ferry at Ouistreham but that is the only thing in it's favour.

Cheapo overnight stop.
First night after evening arrival at Caen. Very helpful with gaining entry, but bed not good with typical French all lie in the middle style. Breakfast OK and basically did the job, but would search elsewhere next time.

This place is fantastic! I was put in one of the outside rooms in the courtyard and it was perfect. The breakfast was a great selection for only 9 euros and the owners couldn’t have been kinder, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend it!

Homely pet friendly hotel
Straddling either side of the main coast road heading west out of Caen, this friendly family run hotel offers budget but clean and well maintained accommodation at a good price. The sandy beach is a couple of metres away, now peaceful with little to show this was Sword beach where f Normandy landing fame. If you have not pre-paid breakfast, just check that price before committing...

We were visiting the Normandy beaches and this hotel could not have been better placed. 40 meters back from the middle of Sword Beach. The village superb. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delightful and the host could not have been better.

A 'cheap and cheeful' option in a seaside holiday town; BUT the entire room had a terrible smell of sewage/ backed up toilet (there were no issues with the toilet or its cleanliness). I opened all the windows to air the room - on a quite cold day, so the room got quite cold - but when the windows were closed again, the smell returned full force.

Basic but ideal for Cylists. Convenient for Ferry.
Pros. Perfect for small cycling groups who want to take in the excellent military sites. eg. The Grand Bunker Museum, Pegasus bridge, Gondree Cafe, Airbourne museum and the Merville Battery. There is a cycle path along the beach and canal all the way to Pegasus Bridge and Caen, avoiding all main roads. Friendly receptionist but no English spoken. Easy parking. Convenient for Ferry Port. Cons. The breakfast were disappointing. A choice of 1 cereal, no hot food apart from toast, yoghurt, fruit salad, cheese but no meat. No shops or restaurants within walking distance.

Great beach location.
We were late arriving, and the owner met us, but all systems were in place should we have arrived after he had left. Our room was on 2nd floor up a fairly steep and narrow staircase, so not good for anyone with limited mobility. We could see the sea from our window. Quiet location just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, but you need a car to go anywhere else. Very basic room, no tea/coffee making facilities, but good shower and comfortable bed. We would stay again as it was great from the beach and our dog loved the walks (we did too), and less than half an hour from the Caen/Portsmouth ferry.

Good option for budget travelers
Booked this hotel last minute as it was the cheapest in the area. The room was ok, although despite booking a single they did put me in a huge room with about 3-4 beds, which was cool! I enjoyed the luxury of sleeping on what essentially became on gigantic bed the size of the whole room. Breakfast was ok. It was a bit light (I am an athlete), then again I caught the tail end of it so that might have been on me. The reception was closed when I arrived around 10pm and had to call someone to come by and get me the key. It's a small town so that is understandable. Conclusion - interesting experience. Humble space. If you're traveling on a budget and just need a place to crash/sleep then this is a good option.

Dumpy hotel
Our first night we were put in a room on the ground floor. The bathroom had a moulds smell. It is convenient to the channel ferry so we booked a second night on our return. We were put in a second floor room which was small, and more expensive than our first night. No wifi in the rooms. No more than a two star.

Close to the Normandy Landing Beaches
This hotel was just what I required for my visit to the D-Day Landing Beaches. A very good price for my 3 day stay. Good size room, very clean and well equipped. The staff were exceptionally pleasant. No complaints at all. I would stay here again, no problems. Location was 50 m from the Sword landing beach. This was why I was in Normandy.

Toilet in the bedroom.
A truly awful experience which I greatly regret. The walls are paper thin, and I could hear conversations from several of the adjacent rooms. The conversion to "en-suite" results in having a toilet in the same room as your bed with only a cheap curtain as a divider. Something I would only expect in a prison cell. The 'en-suite' shower was filthy and covered in limescale with a smell of raw sewage emanating from it. I think the shower drain was plumbed directly into the sewage pipe. Disgusting and completely un-acceptable. The 'concierge' when I complained just shrugged. Cheap and nasty. Avoid at all costs.

Good Hotel for the price
This is definitely not a 5-star hotel, but if you just need a place to sleep while touring Normandy, its fine. It was clean enough and the location is great. If you want a resort, not the hotel for you. If you want a clean place with a bed, this one is just fine.

The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. My french isnt the best so it was helpful that the staff spoke english and it made it a lot easier for us to get directions to the many local tourist attractions. I had the best nights sleep ive had for years the pillows and matress were fantastic the breakfast was a continental buffet and we really enjoyed it the food was excellent. We would definatly stay here again.
