  • Cheers is the perfect retreat for a dream holiday on the beach. Nestled in the picturesque and tranquil village of Umzumbe, this self-catering apartment with amazing sea views is only 150 meters from the warm Indian Ocean. Consisting of a main bedroom en-suite, a second bedroom and separate bathroom, and open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area, the accommodation is well appointed with all cooking and eating utensils.
    Bright and inviting, this space offers a brilliant setting for a memorable stay. We look forward to welcoming you to our place.
    A HOME AWAY FROM HOME
    This tranquil beach-view apartment is ideal for couples looking for a romantic getaway or families wanting to enjoy the sea and sun. The entire apartment is your own - no sharing with other guests. The main bedroom has amazing beach and sea views and the sound of the breakers will lull you to sleep at night, while the second bedroom has views of the back garden and lawn area. A large patio overlooking the beach is ideal for a morning coffee or evening sun-downer. Loungers and chairs make it an ideal area for relaxing after a day on the beach or sightseeing. And if you want to take a break from cooking in the kitchen, a portable barbeque is available for a barbecue on the patio while watching the waves and the occasional whale or pod of dolphins. And best of all, the apartment is solar powered and has its own off grid water supply so no concerns with municipal electricity or water cuts.
    Please note that the apartment does have a single flight of stairs in order to gain access to it.
    Guests also have access to the outside shower next to the pool to wash off any beach sand. The pool is also available for guests to enjoy.
    While the nearest shops are 5km away, there is a Spar2U grocery delivery service available from the Hibberdene Spar supermarket. Simply download the Spar2U app.
    GUEST ACCESS
    The open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge have amazing views over the ocean and beach. The kitchen is well appointed with standard fridge/freezer, oven/gas hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, Nespresso coffee maker (a certain number of pods are supplied), pots/pans, crockery, cutlery, utensils, glassware and wine cooler. The dining area has a table and seating for six, while the lounge has a 3-seater and 2-seater couch in addition to two loungers. The lounge opens onto a balcony area overlooking the beach. The TV has DStv Compact (cable TV). WiFi is provided.
    INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
    My family and I live on the property in the main house and are available should you require any information or assistance. Privacy is respected and we leave it up to our guests as to how much interaction they want. We take pride in offering our guests a unique and homely atmosphere where they will experience an unforgettable stay in modern comfort.

    OTHER DETAILS TO NOTE
    We supply all bedding and towels for use in the apartment, in addition to beach towels and a beach umbrella. An iron and ironing board are provided, as well as a hairdryer.

    The Umzumbe Blue Flag Beach (1km from the apartment) is a favourite with surfers, while golfing enthusiasts have a pick of seven golf courses within 50km of Umzumbe. For sea fishermen, there is good fishing all along the beach in both directions from the accommodation. Stiebel Rocks is a prime spot. You also have the choice of several scuba diving centers that enable you to dive on the world-renowned Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks - two of the finest off-shore dive sites on the planet! April to July (our autumn and winter) affords the best KwaZulu-Natal diving conditions, when the seas are generally calmer and visibility is at its greatest. The Aliwal Shoal, so named for the barque 'Alawal' that nearly wrecked there in 1849, is situated some 4 km off the Scottburgh/Umkomaas coastline. Alawal Shoal measures 1,5 km long by 1 km wide. The Protea Banks, lies 7,5 km off Shelly Beach and is ranked as one of the best shark and gamefish dives going. Protea Banks guarantees experienced and novice divers an unforgettable experience. Measuring some 6 km x 800 metres, Protea Banks serves up an intriguing blend of caves, ridges, pinnacles and amphitheaters at depths from 27 to 40 meters.
    There are a number of restaurants within 5 - 15 km from Umzumbe in addition to several supermarkets. It is recommended that you have your own transport.
