Serene 2-bedroom house in beautiful Gustavus perfect for relaxing getaway

"This place is beautiful! Whoever decorated-knows what they are doing! We absolutely loved the look and it felt good to feel at home. When we arrived we wandered how we were going to get around town (we could not connect with a taxi driver). The host graciously provided four bikes! What a treat to drive to the end of the road and go along the beach. BEAUTIFUL! So glad that we had bikes to ride. The water in the house however was an issue. It smelled like sulfur. When I took a shower the whole kitchen area smelled as if I had boiled eggs. We were able to walk to the grocery store and by drinking water. The host does have a drinking water bubbler, however, it tasted as if there was chlorine in it. With all that being said, we would still stay here again for it is absolutely beautiful and comfortable."

"10/10 experience - We had a large, multi-family group (11 individuals) that stayed comfortably in the Ruddy House. Richard, our host, was outstanding and shared history, insight, and his love for nature. We took advantage of the passenger van available to rent during our stay which was very convenient. Being a long-time resident of Juneau and having extensive experience in whale watching/outdoor excursions, we were able to join Richard for a whale watching excursion, and it was spectacular. The whales were incredible, but it was lovely to join Richard on his private boat for a personal, unforgettable experience. He worked very hard to make sure we had everything we needed. The cabin felt like a quintessential Alaskan experience filled with ocean views from nearly every room and quirky seaside decor. Little conveniences made the home feel very comfortable including soft water, a fully stocked kitchen, and great beds with blackout curtains in the rooms. An unexpected bonus was the tide pools each morning filled with starfish, sea urchins, and little crabs for our toddler to explore! Of note, this property has a steep staircase leading to the front door. It was not an issue for us as it is well maintained. It may be a consideration for those with limited mobility."

"Beautiful house in a lovely setting off a quiet dirt road within walking distance of a grocery store, the village “center” , and a stream for fishing. Only about 15 minutes by car from GBNP..Master bedroom is wonderful with great, large, comfy bed. Setting is quiet. Kitchen is well equipped."

"This home is a GEM of a property.. it is truly special! Rarely does one find a home as comfortable and well-outfitted as this. The first thing that amazed us was the cleanliness of the home. There wasn't a speck of dust in the entire house, and everything was extremely tidy. The owners have posted a sign to remove shoes before going up the carpeted stairs to a fully carpeted second floor. The carpet looked brand new, so we wanted to help the owners maintain it. Plus, doing this kept the second floor looking just as sharp on day 7 as it did on day 1! This is also THE HOUSE to stay in if you are planning to do your own cooking. Almost any kitchen utensil or gadget you can think of can be found in this fully stocked kitchen! There was an assortment of coffee and tea in addition to a few snacks to make our stay more enjoyable. We did not use the hot tub or fire pit area, but we checked them out, and they were also immaculate. Last but certainly not least, we were thrilled to find the strong WIFI signal was present regardless of your location within the home. Also, the main living room/den has the most amazing leather sofa with built-in USB charging outlets, and every seat reclines! The television in that room also has AppleTV with just about every app you can possibly want. We had a few questions during our stay, and the owners were lightning fast to reply. We will be back, and we will be heartbroken if we can't stay in this incredible home. We LOVED every moment!"
Whale Watching at Beachfront Cottage in Juneau!

"You couldn’t ask for a more idyllic Alaska winter getaway. Right on the beach and nestled in the most scenic part of Auke Bay. Looking out at Lynn Canal from the comfort of the cottage with a warm drink in the morning, a fine evening beverage and a good book and a walk on the beach in between was the perfect day. Cheers!"
