"All I can say is that this was the best experience I’ve had while travelling. The owners are so kind and helpful, they help you with checking in, taxi’s, suitcases and the communication is beyond expectations. The house is very clean and most things that you need is provided. Lots of space for bigger groups. The shower is very nice! And the AC’s work really well for both warm and cold. The house is located in a lovely little area on a mountain. It’s very quiet at night, so you will not be...

Grand Mercure Lake Biwa Resort & Spa

10/10 Excellent

"The property has a great lakefront location and view. Its clean, the rooms are large, even if slightly old, and is overall excellent value for money."

Toyoko Inn Kyoto Biwako Otsu

10/10 Excellent

"Toyoko Hotels are usually great. They are clean, convenient, and affordable, and they tend to have lots of useful amenities or people who might have forgotten to bring something like a toothbrush or razor. This particular hotel has a really convenient location that's a short walk from several train stations and from a couple of very charming and pleasant shopping arcades. Miidera (三井寺) and Lake Biwa (琵琶湖) are also manageable walks. Otsu is a lovely and underrated city, and this hotel is in a really nice part of the city."

Yatomi Hotel Nuqu Natural Hot Spring

10/10 Excellent

"We loved this hotel. Things to keep in mind: no one speaks English and their entire room service is only in Japanese. The location is in the middle of nowhere, and it’s a little bit of a walk to a bus station, so we personally used uber. But the amenities made it worth it. Our private onsen was stunning. It was spacious, relaxing and so nice after traveling all day. The food was delicious as well! Normally you’d think hotel room service will be subpar but their menu is huge! And they delivered breakfast to our door every morning which is a nice treat before adventures. I personally would only get a suite room here for the extreme value and experience. It’s spacious and clean. The beds are extremely firm, though, so beware if that’s not your preference. All in all, we will stay here again. As long as you’re okay with Ubers and being away from a lot of big locations (Legoland, etc)."
