"We were here for a couple of days and had a wonderful stay! The place is kept clean, and it sits right by the ski hill. Nothing beats a soak in the hot public bath after a day of skiing. Also loved the breakfast and dinner! The gem though was the staff, who were incredibly friendly and went out of the way to help us. "

Especially the half board menu where we experienced a hearty, well-balanced dining experience specializing in traditional Japanese food using local, fresh ingredients. "Absolutely unique experience. If you want a fancy western style hotel, don’t stay here. If you want to have a genuinely Japanese experience, in an absolutely stunning area with some of the best snow I have seen in my lifetime, then add Kumanoyo to your list. Personally, I loved this place. "

"Location is good, opposite is the ski resort, which has good snow. Overall room was well maintained, public Onsen was nice too. However we came during early ski season, there is barely any restaurants opens. Hotel cafe food is a bit expensive, and not much choice (mainly western). If plan to stay may order half board instead, or tell hotel staff to reserve dinner before 10am"

"One night was definitely not enough! Clean room, great amenities, a wide variety of delicious buffet options, and three relaxing hot springs. I did notice a comment about one of the baths, which I understand, but the water quality was still excellent and very soothing. Special thanks to Mr. Kakumoto for his friendliness and exceptional service truly went above and beyond!! I'll definitely stay here again when I'm back in town. "

"The hospitality (service and meals) at Shiganoyu Hotel were amazing. While we did not speak Japanese and the staff did not speak English, they used a translation tool for conversation and didn't let that be a barrier. It was so comfortable for our family of 5 - very homey and welcoming. The tea and treat upon check-in was a nice surprise and delicious. The onsen was a relaxing bonus! And the food was amazing and a wonderful experience. We had 3 breakfasts and 3 dinners and they were all...
