* Highlands' Santa actually built this house for his family, which is why
it's always decked out for Christmas!! Many lovely features and views
* Chef's Kitchen, Gardens, Woods, Carpet of Moss, View Little Bear Pen Mtn
* 1000 sf Porches, Patios, Fireplaces, Fire Pit
Just across the road from the Highlands Falls Country Club is the beautiful little neighborhood of Rolling Woods. Twig and Nest is the crown jewel of the neighborhood, in my view, with its 1000 sf of covered porches and decks, surrounded by woods and gardens facing Little Bear Pen Mountain. My guests' favorite spot to relax is in front of the fireplace on the covered back porch. The porch and deck can comfortably seat 18-20 people. The gunshot view of Little Bear Pen Mountain is a wonderful spot to watch the sunset over the mountain. In addition to the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, there is a fire pit in the back yard for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows under the moonlight--a place for the youngsters and young-at-heart!
Another favorite gathering spot is the two-story Great Room containing yet another beautiful stone fireplace, a row of clerestory windows, antler chandelier, wide plank wood floors and seating for 8-10. The Great Room opens up to a sunlit well-equipped chef's kitchen with skylit island, custom cabinetry, farmer's sink, stone countertops, stainless appliances, wine rack, TV, butler's pantry and breakfast bar.
The private dining room seats 8 people comfortably and opens to the Great Room and Kitchen.
Of the five bedrooms, three are private suites with their own bathrooms. There are many places you can retire to inside or out in order rest, watch TV or read a book.
The private, wooded setting of the house affords lovely views from all directions. From the Great Room sofa you can see the terraced gardens in the front and the porches/decks/ mountain at the back of the house. Twig and Nest is great for entertaining with over 1000 sf of porches, decks, and patios comfortably furnished with sofas, swings, and hammocks for ultimate relaxation.
One of the comments I hear frequently by my guests is how spacious the house is. There are places for guests to get away from the group from time to time. The fact that the property has nearly 5,000 sf of indoor and outdoor spaces makes it a wonderful bargain, if comfort and ease are important to your group. If you are just looking for a place to crash and don't mind feeling like sardines in a can, then there are less expensive alternatives, of course, but per square foot, the cost to stay at Twig and Nest is an excellent value.
