"We visited the Charleston Place in 2024 for Thanksgiving weekend for the kickoff to Christmas and the stay was no less than MAGICAL. Our child was enthralled with the carolers signing and the lighting of the giant tree followed by bubble "snow." She received cookies and milk at bedtime and a stuffed animal to tuck her in. It was amazing and we wanted to return for the same experience so rebooked for the same weekend in 2025. However, 2025 was not the same. I understand the parking lot was getting refurbished, but the bubble snow was a joke on the terrace. The cookies came at 9:00, far past our child's bedtime, and there was no stuffed animal. I left my makeup bag and called 4 hours later to report, followed up four time and it was never turned in..... The magic was unfortunately left in the past. "

"Hotel suite decor was dingy. Absolutely no privacy as I opened 104 suite door into main concourse for the hotel. Open door or downstairs window curtain to find guests at hotel restaurant or patio staring right back at you. Outdated carpets and furniture. Cramped into two room split level suite with almost no direct sunlight through two small windows. Bed spread and linens, comforter were rather cheap quality. For me to use 2nd sofa bed, I had to move faux marble coffee table. Just two pillows (without cases) and a sheet for it. Despite high end cost of stay, ($2900 for 3 nights!) none of the three wine bottles placed in room were complimentary $25 ea. Lots of emphasis on booze in decor and amenities and the staff’s approach to defusing tension and stress w guests check-in is to randomly offer you a rum punch when you check in. On positive note, valet service was excellent. Overall a total bust except for the Charleston southern “whiskey gentry” that seem to love the place. "

"Furniture in our room seemed to be from the 60’s. The A/C was ancient and we couldn’t dial in a comfortable temperature. The evening reception snacks were not quite as good as what I could get on an airplane. On the good side, the staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was very good. "

"The room was average at best for the price point. Good views of the bay, but the rooms need updating big time. You can see spots on all the walls where there was previous water damage and it was just painted over. The tank on our toilet in room 812 was falling off the bowl. Room service only came to service our room one time around 9am while we were still sleeping and never came back throughout the entire stay. The A/C was very loud and reeked of mildew. The mini fridge made loud crackling noises in the middle of the night to the point where it needed to just be unplugged our entire stay. Spend the few extra hundred a night and get a much better experience would be my recommendation for anyone looking to stay here. "

"Booker beware! They overbooked and when we arrived we were informed they didn’t have our reservation available. We had pre paid through Expedia had nowhere to stay and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get a refund. Shaunte at the front desk was incredibly rude. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Even though it may be inexpensive, please please don’t book this hotel it is not worth it. Spend your money elsewhere. "
