Ocean View Suite Homer Alaska Cafe/Bookshop/Beach

The Old Inlet Bookshop, Mermaid Café and B&B is located on Main Street in beautiful downtown Homer, just off the Sterling Highway towards the beach. In a renovated historic log cabin, there is a used bookshop offering quality used books in most genres. Next door, there is the Mermaid Café that serves lunch and dinner. Upstairs is the Mermaid B&B in a charming Victorian style construction--it is well appointed and features local artwork.

In a private, wooded setting in Old Town, Homer, the Mermaid B&B offers a scenic, clean place to stay with a queen sized Posturepedic bed in the bedroom and a full sized fold-out futon in the living room. The dining room is in the turret with windows looking out over Kachemak Bay and the mountains and glaciers beyond. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything one needs to prepare meals. Private deck offers ocean and mountain views and is a great place to enjoy coffee or any other beverage.

The establishment is within a few minutes walk of the beach, grocery stores, banks, post-office, movie theater and other dining opportunities. We include fresh locally roasted organic coffee beans. We look forward to your stay.

Lovely Stay in Homer

The suite was very clean and had all that we needed. Check on was easy and the owners were helpful. The view from the dining room was amazing.

The owner was very helpful. Gave us ideas of places to eat, and some things to do. The apartment was lovely, very roomy, a little alcove where to eat your breakfast and look outside. The first floor is the owner’s bookshop a wonderful place to browse and find that treasured book that you didn’t even know you needed!

This sweet, comfy apartment is ideally located for exploring Homer: close to Bishop Beach, cool restaurants, the Art center, and Islands and Oceans exhibit. Plus a bookstore downstairs!

Nice view & comfortable stay

The apartment above the bookstore was spacious, and we especially appreciated the view and Andy’s hospitality. The cafe downstairs has tasty food with friendly staff who offered to deliver our dinner! We feel so pampered!!

The space was fantastic. Comfortable and clean, everything we expected. The old town area where the space is located exceeded our expectations. Great beach to walk, an art museum and Wild Honey bistro (get the Bee Sting late!) was wonderful. We’d absolutely stay here again.

Lovely place to stay while in Homer

Enjoyed our stay and the very comfortable and cozy apartment. Great location within a few blocks of Bishops Beach as well as town. Will stay here again next time I visit!

Perfect Homer Hideaway

This was the perfect place to stay while visiting Homer. Clean, quiet, and reasonably priced with an ocean view to boot! The kitchen is equipped.well enough that we were able to enjoy a home made dinner of the fish we caught out in the bay.

Wonderful stay in the hear of Homer

It was incredibly inviting and cozy staying here. We highly recommend choosing to stay here and look forward in returning here! The hosts are very receptive and welcoming. They welcomed us with fresh fruit and dessert. The place was kept very tidy and clean. It had all the necessities including items to make yourself a cup of coffee or cook if needed. The location was superb was it was quiet and close enough to the Spit. The place was located on top of a library/cafe which was so unique and interesting as we felt like it was a “home” away from home. Can’t wait to return back someday to stay in this wonderful gem!

February Homer Stay

I have stayed at the Ocean View Suite several times on my own and with family and it is my favorite place to stay in Homer. Andy and Sally are the best hosts and the place has the best view, is really nicely furnished and comfortable and has a wonderful location, being close to Bishop's Beach and downtown Homer. I highly recommend a stay!

This property is in a great location. It is a very short walk to the beach, delicious food and interesting shops. Owner was super friendly and helpful. The rental was clean, had everything we needed. The owner left us fresh fruit, flowers and pastry!

Perfect!

This was the perfect place to stay! My uncle, dad and I were in Homer for a fishing charter, and this little place at the Old Inlet Bookshop was the perfect spot! We loved the views, walked to every meal, Bishop’s Beach, and all slept comfortably. I hope it’s available the next time I visit Homer because I want to stay here again.

perfect location

Not sure you could ask for a more perfect location, above a bookshop - a few mins walk to the beach, lots of food and bakery options nearby. The suite is comfy and feels remote even with all this around. An eagle nest in a nearby tree made for some fun bird watching.

Charming and convenient

This is a beautiful place located above a unique and charming book store. Within walking distance to several great restaurants. The owners are friendly and left some awesome welcome treats. Would definitely stay here again. Homer is beautiful.

Everything you need and more

This property has outstanding views that have you wanting to curl up and read a good book. But there's so much to do, you'll have trouble deciding. The property has plenty of room and a great little deck.

Magical Mermaid house in Homer, Alaska

The cottage apartment over the Inlet Book Shop was perfect for us. It was very comfortable and clean and we enjoyed her welcome note and harbor cherries! It had a wonderful view of the mountains and sea. We could walk to Bishop Beach and watch eagles in a tree. We enjoyed nearby restaurants, bakery, and the Art Center nearby. Will never forget such a darling place to stay.
