"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. "The location of the hotel is perfect as its just next to the exit of IC "highway" and Yaizu fish market. Room is good but there were 5 to 6 buds in our room and when we arrive hotel, we were told there is more then enough parking space but we were asked to park the car at another parking that we need to cross around the area. After parking the car, as a foreigner its quite difficult to remember the path back to hotel specially at nite time. Even with google map the path returning to hotel...

"I cannot say enough good things about this inn. It was everything we imagined. There was a person waiting to greet us when we got there (which, honestly, we had never imagined). The meals -- we had a dinner and a breakfast -- were the best and also the fanciest we had while in Japan, full stop. We were completely floored at the care taken for every little detail during our stay. It feels nicely out-of-the-way once you get there, but it is not hard to get to at all. The staff offered to pick us up from the local train station on our way in, but we decided to walk. The walk is totally fine if you are used to walking and aren't hauling a 70-pound bag, which we were. We gratefully accepted the inn-keeper's offer of a ride back to the train station when we left. Seriously: the seventh-generation inn-keeper who owns the place drove us to the train station on the way out. "
