"We were fortunate to have chosen Home Hotel during the strike - other hotels were closed. It’s a lovely hotel with a great location. The management did an excellent job keeping the service level high without having enough staff. The view, breakfast and sauna were great additions to our stay. This must be an amazing stay when fully staffed."

"Check in wasn't easy as the info provided via the booking company ( not the hotel) was wrong...we had to get help from staff at the hotel, which was fine because we arrived at a time of day when someone was available. Once inside, we were able to stow our luggage, and return later, to once again find the check in system wouldn't work...according to the person on duty, this was the fault of the booking company.. VERY irritating. However, both members of staff who helped us were extremely professional. The room we had was spotless, comfy( although not incredibly warm). Good shower and very comfy bed. No kettle in room, but free access to coffee machine in the lobby( no tea though...we're English and love our morning cuppa😉). All in all, a pretty good hotel for the price."

"Location location location! Absolutely fabulous location walking distance to everything you would want to see in Bergen! Great food and cafes nearby too, There are no staff as this is a self check in hotel and they send you the instructions beforehand- easy to follow. The rooms are very basic and super tiny. But for short stay you can make do. 7 minutes walk to the train that takes you to the airport. 10 minutes walk to the bus station. 6 minutes walk to the iconic unesco picture stop of Bergen. Overall super basic hotel but in a great location."

"The location is amazing but the hotel itself was okay. We arrived 5 weeks into a country wide strike of hotel workers. This was not made clear to us at any point prior to our check in via email or alternative communication. We were told at the time of check in that we would get irregular room cleaning based on housing staff availability. We were caught off guard but since we already were there we weren't going to cancel our room. Since we were told there would be inconsistent room cleaning we decided to prioritize the middle of our trip to refresh the room. The front desk gentleman said he'll make a note and ask the housekeeping staff. It was not cleaned that day. We then followed up in the evening and were told that there would be no housecleaning at all during our stay. Eventually one of the front desk staff was courtesy enough to offer to refresh our room herself. She went above and beyond and we are appreciative of her efforts. However being misled at the time of check in and then 1-2 days into our stay to be told differently about cleaning offerings left a sour taste for our stay. If we knew there was no housekeeping we would have opted for an airbnb instead. Other issues - the room AC were warm despite being at the coldest settings. The rooms are very cramped. All of their base rooms are listed at 161 square feet. Which is basically 1 queen sized bed + barely enough room for two check in bags open on the floor."
