"This house is quirky and fun, not ideal in the winter as the beds felt a bit damp, but it was OK for us as we spent most of the time at our son's house.It would be helpful to have the full address listed with some dirrections."

She checked me in, instructed me where to park my car, advised where to get dinner because they didn't provide evening meals, served my drink in the bar, laid my table for my brought in take away dinner and then cleared up and still managed to do some cleaning. "The Royal Hotel was excellent and we would certainly recommend staying there. The food was very good at dinner & snack lunch. Breakfast was fine for us and we would have liked a better fruit collection. More brochures of surrounding places to visit would be helpful. "

Go back in time and stay at a family owned Hotel

"I have not stayed here for years and was surprised to see that its still a Brend Hotel ( family hotel). I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)"

Very conveniently placed hotel in the town centre

"I found The Royal & Fortescue to be a lovely comfortable place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple very close to all amenities including the bus station which was so handy for getting to other near by attractions. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. We had a really nice relaxing stay and if in Barnstaple again would be more than happy to stay again."
