"Property was easily accessible off of I-8 in el centro, the room was clean, the A/C worked well, bed was comfortable and the breakfast had good selection of options. Parking was tight, there appeared to be a lot of large trucks on site possibly because guests there worked construction. The lobby carpet did have a dull odor. Overall it was good value,"

"This place is perfect if you are visiting from out of town for any events! We attended the local Sweat Ceremony held by Southern Indian Health Council only 8 minutes away from the motel. Very small town but has everything you need. The check in process was very simple, and the attendant was sure to assist us with all of our needs. The room was very cozy and had a well working AC and the window scenery was perfect as well! I read some of the past reviews and I am not sure what some of the people are referring to as "creepy". It IS a small rural town and not the big city! I will definitely be staying here again when we come for the future sweat ceremonies! PS Cowboy coffee is ALSO only 8 minutes away and opens up at 6:30am and the coffee and service there is super delightful!"

"Staying at the High Desert Retreat is so fun. It’s very close to San Diego but feels like a different world. The acreage around the property is a wonderful place to hike around and explore. I love coming here for a long weekend and will be back."

"Property was great and the home was very clean. Located right on the edge of desert so very convenient for off-roading directly from the property. Fully fenced yard was great for letting the dogs run. "
