"Staff was friendly and professional. This is an older hotel that has had the common areas updated. The room we had was small and there was a crumpled paper towel under the bed along with a cotton swab under the desk. We were unable to get hotter water out of the shower so we settled for a warm shower. The options for the area are extremely limited. The only restaurants other than the hotel restaurant in the immediate vicinity were closed by 6 PM. "

"I chose to stay here because it was the cheapest option for my Trolltunga hike. It’s probably fine if you drive, but if you visit out of season without a car, you’ll need to take a taxi to P2, which cost me 800 NOK one way, basically cancelling out (or even more) the savings from staying here. The receptionist was very helpful and tried to connect me with another guest doing the hike to share transport, but it didn’t work out because they were late, so I took a taxi instead (which arrived quickly, within 5 minutes). Luckily, I met a kind Ohio couple on the guided hike who drove me back to Odda afterward. The surroundings were beautiful though, my room was next to a stream with mountain views. However, I stayed 2 nights and my room was not cleaned during my stay. This was also the first property I’ve stayed at, and I travel often, where I had to pay extra for a hot shower. The property is also a bit far from Odda city centre, and since there’s little public transport out of season, I had to walk to catch the bus to Voss. That said, I got lucky with clear skies and the hike was absolutely worth it. If you’re visiting out of season without a car, I’d recommend staying in Tyssedal instead, since Trolltunga Adventures can pick you up and drop you off there."

"My first trip to Norway and I hope to return but I will never stay at another Scandic hotel again. The Scandic Torget does not have enough tables in its restaurant. Two days running, I got up from my breakfast table to go and get another coffee, only to find that somebody had taken the table on my return and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. This is a problem particularly for solo travellers. What are we supposed to do? If we leave a bag, book or mobile phone to show the table is in use and it is stolen, the hotel will call us foolish for leaving it unguarded. I have travelled to 6 continents and I had NEVER previously been in the position where I had to argue/fight with other hotel guests over the right to sit at a table where I had already been seated!! This is a disgusting way for guests to be treated. It doesn't matter that one hour at breakfast might be busier than others, a hotel should still have an adequate number of tables. My advice to people heading for Bergen is to book inn at the Radisson or any other hotel rather than Scandic."
