"The hotel used to be fantastic but it has lost some of it's grandeur and some areas could be improved by a little TLC. We stayed in one of the suites and the bathroom was lovely but as the shower is a large waterfall one a shower cap as part of the things available would have been nice. The room was spacious with nice furniture except for one piece which had definitely seen better days. There was food left in the fridge from the previous occupants and the wind off the Atlantic rattled the floor to ceiling windows but the views were fantastic."

"Easy check in and staff helpful. Room clean and comfy bed, bit of mould around bath sealant but that was all. Tea and coffee and fan provided. Bonus pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Had evening meal in restaurant, friendly staff and great food. Plenty breakfast options. Parking available and no issues getting parked. For price and amenities - great value"

"Breakfast is good. Plenty of choice. Sausages are very good. Poached eggs were spot on. Got enough beans. Bacon is ok. Not overly keen on giant field/Portobello mushroom. I prefer saute'd button mushrooms. DO NOT mess about with the bread toasters! They toast bang on if not fiddled with. Some of the younger serving staff need more training. They should know what the soup of the day is, people do ask. They need to know what is in the sauces with the meals and that if you order a steak, you need a steak knife and if you order soup, you need a soup spoon. They should check the water bottles and glasses for debris. The room and en suite were spotless, well laid out and comfortable. The reception staff are great, very helpful and know exactly what they are doing and what there is to do. The grounds all around the hotel are spectacular. The views from most rooms are uninterupted views across the lake and into the distant hills. There are some great walks locally. The shooting range is world class. The shooting lodge is really a nice log construction. Facilities and things to do at the hotel and around the area are great."

"Very helpful and attentive staff. Good parking close to lodge. Lodge clean and tidy. Swimming pool great but needed to include more child friendly sessions with the floats as only available after 4pm. Tennis courts could do with the lines being freshened up and crazy golf a bit of a hazard for young children but this didn’t really detract too much from our stay. Resturant was good and catered well for our 4 year old grandson who has food alergies. Would certainly come back and recommend to friends and family."

"Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The garden view room was very spacious and had a wonderful view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The only negative thing was that I stayed on one of the hottest days this year and there was no aircon in the room I was staying in and although they provided a fan this wasn’t enough to cool the room down at all."

"The hotel was conveniently placed about 10 minutes walk to the railway station and 15-20 minutes walk into the town. There was plenty of free parking and the hotel is set in nice grounds. The hotel is a grand old building but in places could do with a bit of an upgrade certainly in the rooms where our balcony windows had seen better days. Breakfast was good and a nice hot and cold buffet selection. Plus the service was good. Nice bar area but shut fairly early and apart from Saturday you couldn’t get a drink past about 10.45 pm! all the staff were very pleasant (apart from head bar man who always seemed miserable and couldn’t shut early enough ☹️). Overall we enjoyed our stay."
