4/10 Poor

The good: 15 minutes from West Yellowstone. Good base for Yellowstone Park trip. Spacious and well-equipped property. Beautiful mornings from back deck. Nice hot tub. Reliable wifi. The bad: The owner recommends 4WD vehicle to access the property. In reality you would be better off with something akin to a Ford F 150 or military grade jeep. From the main road it is a half mile straight up a steep, twisty, deeply rutted gravel road. One of the neighbors says she has seen a few cars slide off it into her retaining wall. A standard suburban SUV may not cut it. We struck a deal with the RV camp at the bottom of the mountain so we could park our vehicle there and then trudge the half mile up the hill when we got home. Not ideal. The ugly: Certainly any property in the wooded mountains will have some issues with bugs. The first morning my wife and I were brushing ants off our pillows and bodies. I didn't get too excited about that. But the spiders were a whole different level of infestation. My children woke up with bites and welts. My daughter must have been allergic to the venom because her face swelled up so much she had to have a prescription for steroids called in. I probably killed 12 spiders myself. They seemed to like to congregate in the bedrooms, scurrying across the floors. It got to the point where we had to spend the last two nights of our trip in a hotel. Just wasn't worth the risk to the kids. Of course the owner refused to compensate for those two nights.
