Hotel Monterey Akasaka

"The hotel is very nice. The staff are all very helpful and kind. The common areas are modern and up-to-date. I appreciated the decorations and attention to detail. The rooms themselves are fine, but suffer in terms of space. Our room had spacious and comfortable bed, but there is very limited additional space to maneuver beyond the pathway from the door to the bed itself. The interiors of the rooms also felt slightly more dated relative to the common areas. They were still very nice, but there seemed to be a slight disconnect in terms of their appearance. For the purposes of our trip, this hotel met our needs very well. It offered comfortable and clean area to sleep, a lovely breakfast in the morning, and a place to cool off. I have seen other reviews mentioned that the hallways can get rather warm, which was accurate for our recent trip, but the air conditioning in the rooms works perfectly fine so this is a very minor inconvenience."

"Our experience at this hotel was excellent. The design, food, room size, and cleanliness were all top-notch, but what really stood out was the staff. We had the pleasure of interacting with Nabin and Nico during our stay, and they were both incredibly attentive and friendly. The hotel’s location also makes it very easy to get around using public transit. Overall, a fantastic place! Highly recommended."

"This hotel has a great location in Shinjuku. It’s a five minute walk from Yotsuya, which has excellent connections to all parts of Tokyo, as well as the Bullet Train. Their lounge service (providing tea, coffee and pastries in the afternoon) is good. The room we booked was larger than the usual Tokyo bijou ones. It used the space well, with a large bed, a small dining area, a kitchenette, and even an excellent quality (very quiet) washer dryer. They do provide a very basic breakfast, but we weren’t interested. There were many eateries within 5 minutes walk which had a variety of Japanese and western options. The staff were friendly, but like many in Japan their English was limited. Anne and Sum, were the exceptions, and as such were able to help us a lot. The luggage transfer service to the next hotel in Kyoto was a life saver. We had a very enjoyable time at this lovely hotel and I’d be happy to recommend it to others."

"We had a tremendous stay at Capitol Tokyu. The rooms, staff and amenities including the pool were excellent. And while it is a bit on its own without much within an easy walk, the subway is under the hotel and makes getting to all of the key areas very convenient. Would definitely come back."
