There is a grocery store all of a half mile from the property, but you probably dont want to wait too long to get groceries.

The rooftop is great and the house is one of the nicer on the block, and I think with a few amenity upgrades, it could be much better for guests...if you can get past the stairs. I would not recommend this duplex for a multi-generational group like ours in the future.  There was no mention in the listing about the amount of stairs and disconnection of two separate living spaces.  We wanted to spend time together and the constant up and down of stairs made that difficult (down one flight up two to go between). In general the amenities were not as I have experienced in other rentals - 1 towel per person with no hand towels or washcloths, no dish soap/hand soap for all of the sinks, one brown bottle of mystery liquid in the showers, sparse kitchen items, no drawers or hangers for clothes. This was tough for a week stay. The pull out couches were also not in good shape or quality. It is on a busy, noisy road, but understand that can't be changed. Communication was prompt when the air was turned off and the dryer didn't work.

We rented the two units for a family event in NYC for July 4th. We were comfortable and enjoyed the rooftop view of the NYC skyline and the fireworks. One unit was cleaner than the other and both need some updates (in my opinion). The pillows, bedding and towels were low quality. The beds were decent, the pull out couch mattresses were very thin, we only needed one so we doubled them up and it was better. The units were not connected, but you can access both through the garage. Lots of steps to the units so keep that in mind. The kitchen had the essentials but no extras, such as plastic wrap or spices. Wine opener was broken so bring your own. The bathrooms were ok, but only had one soap dispenser, no hand soap, tissues, or hair products. The area was ok, but we did not want to walk around there. The road was quite loud most of the night, but we chalked that up to city life. The proximity to NYC was perfect, I tried using the PATH but on a holiday weekend an Uber was much more efficient (about 15-20 mins).
