We recently stayed at Desert Shadows, hosted by AvantStay, and unfortunately our experience was disappointing enough that we chose to leave early.
Upon arrival at the 4:00 PM check-in time, we encountered an unexpected situation: another individual entered the property just ahead of us and remained inside for approximately 10 minutes. He later explained he was changing a light bulb. While this may have been routine maintenance, it was unusual to have someone inside the property at the exact time of check-in without prior notice.
One of the primary reasons we selected this property was the pool. However, we quickly discovered that the pool was not heated, and the water temperature was too cold to use—especially with a young child. While the hot tub was available, it was set to a high temperature (104°F), requiring time to cool down before it could be safely used. This significantly impacted our ability to enjoy the amenities we had specifically booked the property for.
When we reached out to AvantStay regarding these concerns, the response felt dismissive and lacked empathy. There was little effort to offer a meaningful solution or accommodation, which added to our frustration.
The following day, another concerning situation occurred. While my wife was inside the home, a man entered the backyard unannounced and began using a blower on the patio.
