Spend the day in the park, come home for a soak in the hot tub, put on a record, make dinner together or settle around the fire as the desert cools. Inside, three bedrooms and two bathrooms give everyone room to spread out, while the fully fenced backyard makes it easy to spend more of your stay outside.

The Mustard Door is a single-story desert home with room to gather, room to spread out and an easy connection to everything that brings people to Joshua Tree.



Inside, the large living and dining area create a comfortable central space for time together. Art, music and local touches bring some Joshua Tree character indoors—including a colorful desert mural hand-painted by local artist Amber Morgan.



Outside, the fully fenced backyard gives you space to slow down beneath the desert sky. Start the morning with coffee outside, spend the afternoon in a hammock or come back after a day in the park for a soak in the hot tub and a quiet evening around the fire.



You’re close to town and the park when you want to explore—and have a peaceful place to come home to when you don’t.

You’re tucked into Joshua Tree’s Friendly Hills neighborhood, close enough to town and the park that exploring is easy, while still having a private backyard and plenty of room to unwind once you’re home.

Quiet is part of the experience. The Mustard Door is in a peaceful residential desert neighborhood, and we want to keep it that way. This is a place for relaxing, reconnecting and enjoying Joshua Tree—not parties or loud gatherings.

County registration is required. San Bernardino County requires guests to complete a short-term rental registration + acknowledgement after booking. We’ll send everything electronically, and the forms must be completed within 24 hours to maintain the reservation.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE



QUIET HOURS

9pm–7am. Sound travels surprisingly far in the desert, so outdoor voices and activity need to remain low during evening and overnight hours.



DOGS

Maximum of two well-behaved dogs. A $109 pet fee applies. Sorry, The Mustard Door does not allow cats or other pets.



HOT TUB

Private and available throughout your stay. The hot tub is located beneath the covered patio.



FIRE PIT + GRILL

Please use all outdoor fire features responsibly and follow any local fire restrictions in effect during your stay.



EARLY + LATE DEPARTURE

We get it—sometimes arriving a little earlier or having a little more time before heading home can make all the difference. We’re happy to accommodate early check-in or late check-out whenever we can. Availability depends on other guest reservations and our cleaning team’s schedule, so please reach out in advance and we’ll do our best to make it work.



PROPERTY SERVICE

Our goal is to give you the most private & uninterrupted stay possible. Occasionally, scheduled service—or something unexpected that needs our attention—may require brief access to the outdoor areas of the property.



HOT TUB

Serviced every Tuesday + Friday. If your stay falls on one of these days, you may see our technician, who will let himself through the gate and is typically there for less than 10 minutes. Please refrain from using the hot tub immediately after service, as chemical levels may temporarily be elevated.



COMMERCIAL USE

Parties, events and unauthorized commercial photography or filming are not permitted.
