We loved our time at the cottage! Gale is an incredible host, the cottage is just as gorgeous as the pictures and immaculate. We loved our morning coffees on the lanai and the lush surrounding gardens.

Wonderful cottage in Kona

The cottage and grounds are very special. Quiet, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. Gale was a wonderful host and we enjoyed our welcome gifts of fruit and the best banana bread on the islands.

Magnificent Cottage in coffee country

Prestine cottage on a manicure landscape, with full luxurious amenities. Perfect romantic get away.Great location to get around the island.I our host Gale, greeted us as we arrived and gave us a full rundown of her cottage.Everything was picture perfect and we made lasting memories on our visit to the Big Island.

Like a 5-star resort for two!

The cottage was beautiful, very nicely decorated, and well supplied with everything. Gale was a wonderful host, with lots of helpful suggestions and advice, and interesting local lore as well. We loved the location especially - close to Kailua Kona, but out in the country too! The little road the cottage is on was perfect for daily walks.

Paradise!

This is a wonderful, quiet, clean, beautifully landscaped property. The cottage is accurately described and the host has thought of and provided for every possible need. Gale is warm and friendly, most knowledgable about the island and does a terrific job of making sure her guests are comfortable. We would stay again! The property is a great value!

Big Island Getaway did not disappoint.

This property is a true retreat. The house was well beautiful and stocked. It is in such a peaceful location that we felt like we had a secret little private oasis. The property manager was fabulous as well! Would definitely stay here again.

Memorable Stay at the Cottage

Gale met us at check in and was so warm and helpful getting us settled. Her cottage and surrounding gardens are beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. The cottage was exceptionally clean and offered many thoughtful amenities. We loved sitting out on the amazing lanai both day and night. Gale graciously met with us when we were leaving and we shared with her that we were already looking forward to our return visit. Thank you Gale for sharing your beautiful cottage with us!

Tropical Retreat

This was our second time staying at the cottage and it was just as awesome as we remember! The location is the perfect jumping off point for all activities but it beautiful enough to just stay at all day as well! We will be back again!

Of course it's 10 out of 10!

I always wondered what makes a VRBO rental get an excellent score of a perfect 10, and now I know! Gale is an INCREDIBLE hostess and is a treasure trove of knowledge about the island. Our first day she brought us fresh fruit and banana bread, which was quite delicious and so sweet of her. The cottage has everything you would hope to have in a vacation rental and also things you didn't even know you wanted! Seriously, I cannot think of one thing we needed that wasn't provided. It is quiet and serene, the lanai is the perfect way to start the morning, the bath robes for the outdoor shower were amazing, I could go on and on... Everything was clean and well taken care of. We told her that we would recommend her place to anyone we know that is traveling to Hawaii. We hope to return one day! 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Great Oasis

The Perfect Cottage

Everything about this cottage was perfect. Gale greeted us and walked us through the property at check in. She was also willing to answer questions about the island and sites throughout our trip. The cottage was great. It had everything we needed (kitchen, bathroom, and beach gear). Mornings and evenings outside enjoying the view were perfect. I can’t wait to come back and stay here! Wonderful, peaceful cottage.

We had a wonderful, restful and peaceful stay at this beautiful cottage.. Gale is a wonderful host who works hard to pay attention to every detail. Her Place was incredibly clean and lovingly stocked with extra touches like a yoga mat, a spice rack, condiments in the fridge amd an air printer. Her grounds are extraordinary. We hope to visit her again.

Better than a 5 star hotel

There are not enough adjectives to describe how awesome this property is and how wonderful Gale is. We absolutely loved our stay at Gale”s gorgeous cottage. When we arrived Gale met us and gave us the tour and there was delicious banana bread! The cottage is just gorgeous and every amenity has been thoughtfully provided. We spent two weeks there and it flew by. We would love to come and stay again. Gale is an absolutely wonderful host.

Best Rental on the Big Island

This cottage is one of the best rental properties that we have stayed in. Gale was a fantastic host, quick to respond to messages, detailed at check-in and provided a loaf of amazing banana bread, which was appreciated after a long travel day. The kitchen had everything we could have needed and a great gas grill. The size was perfect for us for nine nights. The early mornings and evenings were cool on the hillside, which quickly cooled down the cottage. Being close to Palani Road/Hawaii Belt allowed us to avoid the Queen K to get into Kona quickly. I would absolutely rent this VRBO again for a future trip to the Big Island.

Absolutely perfect

The property was beautiful and had everything we could have needed. Gale was very helpful during check in and throughout our stay. She was very open to giving suggestions and answering our questions promptly. We did a lot of adventuring during the days but this place is definitely somewhere that you could just hang out all day and relax if you wanted. We are very happy that we chose to stay at Gale’s property.

Amazing lanai and well appointed cottage

Loved our stay at Gale’s. Super private and amazing views. This is our favorite area to stay on the island because it’s convenient to everything but also tucked away and completely private. Enjoyed all our breakfasts on the lanai and a few dinners watching the sunset. The cottage is so well appointed and luxurious feeling this will definitely feel like a vacation away from home. Stocked with everything you need and all the details (just note there is no dishwasher or oven - no problem for us) and the WiFi is a tad on the slow side (again no problem for us since we didn’t have to do any work) 100% would recommend and will come back if we have the chance to!

A Week In Paradise

Our stay at this AMAZING guest house was our best VRBO experience ever! When we arrived at the property, Gale, our host, met us and showed us around the property. More than that, Gale offered her vast knowledge of the Big Island like a personal concierge. She took the time to find out what we wanted to do during our one week stay and gave us excellent suggestions for restaurants, sights to see and things to do. The guesthouse is private, nicely appointed and VERY comfortable. The house has outstanding amenities and the area where it is located is absolutely lovely. If the house is available, book it. You won’t regret it!

Best Engagement Celebration Ever!

My son and his girlfriend got engaged in Kona, they were staying with friend's but my husband and I wanted a special place for them to go after they got engaged for 2 nights, Not only was Gale available to help with location for the engagement, she helped me set up a special Champagne toast for when my son and fiance arrived. They said it was the most beautiful place ever and that it was an Epic experience. Thank you Gale for providing the perfect romantic spot and all your help!

Mountain Garden Retreat In Paradise

We stayed 5 nights at The Cottage at Ohia Place and enjoyed every minute. Immaculate gardens dominate this property and gorgeous birds call them home. The stunning cottage with beautiful wood elements captures the natural essence of the island. With unmatched distant ocean vistas, this location makes you want to spend the entire day on the lanai taking it all in, especially the sunsets that are never the same with colors that last for an hour. Our host had every detail covered and spent time helping us learn about the property and the island. The cottage had every amenity we could wish for indoors and even a second shower outdoors surrounded by private, gorgeous lava rock walls in the garden. Our stay was beyond wonderful and we'll be back!

Outstanding Property for a phenomenal couple's getaway

My wife and I have stayed in many different vacation rentals all around the world and this is one of the best!!! This hillside cottage is away from the bustle of Kailua-Kona but only a 5-to-10-minute drive from shopping, coffee and the Airport. We heard nor saw traffic, day or night, but you will hear plenty of nature. The cottage itself is immaculate, well maintained and has all the required comfort conveniences, coffee makers, microwave, awesome toaster oven, gas cooktop and all dishes and utensils to match. High speed internet is awesome, and the bed is extremely comfortable. Gale is a great host, met us late, worked with our departure time and gave us great advice on where to go and what to see. I highly recommend this as one of the best rentals for 2 on the Big Island!!!
