Gorgeous historical retreat
This was by far the best property we have ever stayed at. Beautifully presented and filled with antiques and historical memorabilia, this home is a hidden treasure. The expansive grounds are gorgeous with access to the Kangaroo Valley River as well as an inground pool. Host, Karen, was highly responsive and included so many lovely quality extras that made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be staying again and can't wait to introduce our friends to this property.

Magical
Beautiful home, absolutely full of charm. Set in a gorgeous garden, leading down to magical kangaroo River. And so many extra treats - French Champagne, breakfast goodies and homemade shortbread. This place is a big warm hug! Oh, pool great too. Thank you so much Karen. We will be back!

Unforgettable and Enjoyable Getaway
My close friend and I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hampden House in Kangaroo Valley for three nights. It was a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and character of this historic home, as well as the warm and thoughtful hospitality of our host, Karen. Karen's attention to detail and genuine care for our comfort made a significant impact on our experience. The little treats left for us to enjoy was a lovely touch. The elegantly furnished house was impeccably clean and inviting and was surrounded by beautifully lush, private gardens. It was a very enjoyable break and I'm looking forward to getting back there in the future.

Old World Charm With All Comfort!
Stacked with fascinating objects from Karen's family through the generations this home is very comfortable and its outer areas are beautiful. We much appreciated all the effort put in to welcome us into this lovely old home.

The Property and surroundings exactly what is needed to get away from a hectic life. We were only on the property for one day and that even made us completely relaxed. Karen is a champion and her quality in hosting is second to none. Enjoy staying and taking a trip back in time.

Memorable short stay
It was an absolute privilege and a joyous experience having a few days to relax and unwind surrounded by Karen’s lifetime of memories. Such a character filled home filled with beautiful antiquities and country charm . Karen’s hospitality and gorgeous welcoming gifts were a highlight , every effort has been made to make your visit so special , luscious sponge cake , local fresh eggs , champagne and chocolates. I could have spent so much more time enjoying this beautiful cottage , I fully intend to make a pilgrimage on a more regular basis. Thankyou so much Karen xx

We were very impressed with the property. The owner had gone to a lot of trouble to make the guests feel welcome. The house was full of antiques and held something of interest in every corner. The extensive grounds with their beautiful gardens which led down to the river were magnificent. The pool was delightful and the location offering such a short walk to town was great.

Beautiful garden with a relaxing river access
Wonderful piece of land. Picturesque garden with a running river stream that is accessible at the back. Very well maintained gardens, matured trees well trimmed and turf regularly cut. Full of cicada's making deafening noises and plenty of flies.

Property was old and quite located near Kangaroo River. Which is exactly what we needed to get away from city life. My 3 year daughter loved it and wanted to stay there more. Fresh Cake was so good. Was better if weather was not cloudy and rainy. Last day was good weather. Would love to get back there.

Stunning
Beautiful old cottage in a magical location just a short stroll from the cafes and shops of Kangaroo Valley. Well appointed, comfortable and delightful cottage which holds a lot of history. Stunning garden bookended by a quaint river. Such a charming and private location with wonderful and prompt communication with the host. Would hesitate to stay here again.

Hampton House provided such a lovely Short stay for our little family. Karen’s hospitality and generous offerings of local produce was very special. Having the river at our foot steps and ample places to warm up in the spring sun helped us enjoy every moment.

Idyllic Country Getaway.
Such a beautiful place, Karen has thought of everything to make her guests feel very welcome in her idyllic getaway. My sister and I enjoyed our time here breathing in the country air, listening to the running river and the birds, with a cup of tea and the home-made shortbread Karen left us.

Lovely property with spectacular views
Karen’s property was such a wonderful stay. Right from the start we were welcomed with champagne, fresh bread, chocolates and cake. The personal touches made us feel immediately at home and it was amazing to see the history of the house as it had been passed down through the generations. Will definitely be recommending this to friends and family!

Fantastic stay
Karen’s peppery is exceptional. She went above and beyond to make our stay special, the sponge cake, champagne, fresh bread and butter were show stoppers. The property is secluded and private but still a short walk into the main strip of Kangaroo Valley. Will definitely be back.

On our trip from Sydney Karen contacted us with information regarding the safety of roads following torrential rains. This was a very thoughtful gesture. Our accommodation was beautiful. An historic cottage on the banks of a wonderful river. Vast garden area with beautifully kept garden beds. Champagne, cake , chocolates, bread, eggs and a home full of wonderfully kept memorabilia awaited us. Thank you for a most comfortable stay. Liz and John

A little slice of paradise
Hampden House is a wonderful stay. Far enough out of the village to avoid any crowds close enough to walk to for a Spiced Pumpkin Latte. As described, this 4 bedroom cottage is a slice of yesteryear, with a sprinkling of family heritage throughout. The private pool was a delight on a warm summers day, and the air conditioned interior was a wonderful escape from the flies!! Karens homemade Victoria Sponge with real cream was a wonderful treat on arrival and the weekend only got better from there.

Our stay at Hampdon house was an extremely beautiful and relaxing Experience. Only a short stroll to the main town but far enough away to be quiet. It has everything you need with great quality amenities from the Sheridan sheets/towels to the scanpan in the kitchen. Even though this is an old home it is beautifully maintained. Karen has an amazing eye for detail, I loved the little extras like the champagne, chocolates cake and more! making this the most relaxing two days I’ve had in a long time.

Overall we had a wonderful stay in a beautiful home, full of beautiful antiques, but with all the mod cons you need. A stunning view from the veranda and there are lovely places to visit in the area. Didn’t use the pool but looks very inviting. Would like to stay again at a later date.

Peaceful, relaxing, with everything you need in a unique house and setting.
Our stay was absolutely spot on, House is immaculately presented with everything you could want including little unexpected extras. It was like stepping back in time to a golden era of the simple things in life are often the best, such as sitting on a verandah with tea in a pot, looking at magnificent gardens and view, eating meals beside a log burner surrounded by antiques and special memorabilia. My husband and I were so relaxed and did not want for anything. Loved it!!

If you are looking for a beautiful homely rustic cottage with river veiws - this is place to stay
Absolutely loved this house, and all the wonderful treats left for us by our lovely host (home baked sponge cake, fresh bread, home made butter, marmalade and fresh eggs!!). I honestly did not feel the urge or need to leave the house in the 3 days we were there......I felt very much at home and comfortably relaxed just sitting on the veranda reading or listening to the birds/river/music etc. The house has a lovely nostalgic feel to it and once the fire is going in the early evening you feel right at home and cosy. Thank you again to our host (Karen) for allowing us to share her special place.

A Wonderful Experience!
Hampden House is a wonderful 5 star historical experience within walking distance of the Kangaroo Valley village. Spacious, comfortable & luxurious it has everything you need for a short or long stay within beautiful surrounds & lovely river frontage. It is obvious Karen & family love & cherish this outstanding historical house & there are too many subtle features to list which make this a magical stay in the valley! And the pool was inviting even on a warmish winter day! Highly Recommended!

Scenic valley getaway
We loved every moment at this gorgeous cottage which overlooks a picturesque landscape of lush lawn, beautiful gardens, kangaroo river,rolling green plains and tree-topped escarpment. Though steeped in history, the house has all the modern comforts including central heating and Netflix. It was also extremely clean. Karen's thoughtful extras included sourdough bakery bread, farm eggs, champagne, chocolates and even a home-baked sponge cake (so lovely as she knew my daughters were celebrating a birthday). She is a wonderful attentive host who checked in with us to ensure we had arrived safely, were comfortable and had everything we needed. She also responded speedily to our few queries. We highly recommend Hampden House - it is one of those rare guest houses where the accommodation is as lovely as the website suggests and the host goes above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful stay. Once in a Lifetime Experience
Everybody must experience Hampden House at some stage in their life. The beautiful house and property is absolutely amazing and immaculately kept. The attention to detail inside and out is unparalleled, and the generous accompaniments upon arrival, make you feel special and incredibly welcome. Kangaroo Valley is beautiful and there are many bushwalks, waterfalls , country drives and leisure/sport activities in close proximity. Karen the owner, is extremely generous and provides an experience in Hampden House that I have never experienced prior in any other accomodation environment. You’ll have to see for yourself!

Step back in time
Karen’s property was amazing, like going back to my childhood visits to my grandfathers house. We were more than impressed from the moment we walked in. The local produce left for our use was delicious and the serenity of the location was amazing. I look forward to going back to Kangaroo valley again in the near future and would love to stay in this beautiful house again.
