<br> The only property in the village with your own pool and river access
This magnificent country home dates from the early pioneering days of owner Karen Jarrett's family. Its handcrafted sandstone and timber features tells a story of the earliest settlement in the valley and provides a blessed setting for an unforgettable Kangaroo Valley experience.
With the spirit of a joyful soul, the house offers the comfort of modern country living with all the charm of yesteryear. Time honoured traditions are expressed in line dried linen, a country kitchen warmed by a crackling fire, fresh flowers, French bubbly, and chocolates that await each guests arrival. These traditions and gifts of generosity are like the hand woven threads of a gorgeous quilt of unpretentious splendour that makes Hampden House such a compelling experience.
To this picture add a marvellous in ground pool for summer pleasure, ducted heating and cooling, wifi, Netflix, an espresso machine for great coffee, a seasonally changing garden of mature trees, flowering beds and sweeping lawns and a picturesque river setting. Hampden House is just a 10 min stroll or a two minute cycle into the village, yet remains a peaceful little world of its own.
You can't imagine a more idyllic historic home for a romantic getaway.

My family spent a night here for my husbands and our only regret is we didn’t have more time. Karen went above and beyond leaving lots of little goodies for us. Close to Kangaroo Valley shops and plenty to do. Can’t wait to come back.
The house is an amazing eloquent and warm house filled with abundance of offerings.
Karen the host surprised us with champagne, fresh farm eggs, homemade bread and the finest butter.
The beds were amazing ,with a warm sitting room and ruby the mini grand we could play!
Our stay was wonderful! We hope to return!
This was by far the best property we have ever stayed at. Beautifully presented and filled with antiques and historical memorabilia, this home is a hidden treasure. The expansive grounds are gorgeous with access to the Kangaroo Valley River as well as an inground pool. Host, Karen, was highly responsive and included so many lovely quality extras that made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be staying again and can't wait to introduce our friends to this property.
Beautiful home, absolutely full of charm. Set in a gorgeous garden, leading down to magical kangaroo River. And so many extra treats - French Champagne, breakfast goodies and homemade shortbread. This place is a big warm hug! Oh, pool great too. Thank you so much Karen. We will be back!
We had a lovely stay, talking the night away by the fire. The little treats left for us to enjoy made our visit that more special. Karen was a fabulous host, communication was excellent. The house itself was a treasure trove, full of personality and history that sets it apart from other accommodation. It was very clean and comfortable.
The back verandah was the perfect spot to catch the morning sun with a coffee.
The location is perfect, an easy walk into the village.
We can’t wait to come back!
The moment we arrived it felt like your worries melted away. The house is filled with beautiful treasures from the past, it was like stepping into a different era, it was fantastic. Karen is an amazing host, the goodies that were left for us were terrific, bottle of Moet, bread, eggs Pepes Butter (which I love) juice, chips and Karen even baked an amazing shortbread. The property is extremely clean both inside and out. The gardens are amazing, we even enjoyed a swim in the pool. The house is within walking distance to town. I cannot fault this property. We had a wonderful weekend, cant wait to get back there.

My family and l absolutely loved the home and property
Thank you for being so thoughtful and gracious .My wife has not stopped taking photos .We definitely want to come back .
Stayed here on the weekend, one of the best places I’ve stayed in. House and property are next level, and on arrival we were greeted with all sorts of goodies. It’s a short walk to the town centre. Hoping to return.
Stacked with fascinating objects from Karen's family through the generations this home is very comfortable and its outer areas are beautiful. We much appreciated all the effort put in to welcome us into this lovely old home.

A perfect romantic escape
Karen’s home exceeded all expectations. Stunningly beautiful and perfectly romantic as the other reviews suggested. Her warm hospitality blew me away also, highly recommended. I can’t wait to return as soon as I have time for another country escape from the hustle of the city.”
Perfect place to get away from the world when it gets too hard, i had 16 yrs of caring for my mother she died and i needed somewhere to regroup and heal and think about what is next and this was the best place to do it
Wonderful piece of land. Picturesque garden with a running river stream that is accessible at the back. Very well maintained gardens, matured trees well trimmed and turf regularly cut. Full of cicada's making deafening noises and plenty of flies.
Hampden House is truly a magnificent home. Check-in was a breeze, the house was warm and welcoming, beautiful music was playing and lots of little goodies were left out for us which was such a surprise. The kitchen / dining room is functional with everything you need to cook for yourself or Kangaroo Valley itself has some cute little eatery’s. The lounge area has enough seating for everyone, a smart tv and Ruby a beautiful piano. The bedrooms are stunning all with quality linen and bedding and just beautifully presented. The grounds outside are beautiful with a lovely in ground pool area. Overall Karen has out done herself with this amazing property, we were sad to leave after spending 2 nights. Our next visit will definitely be longer. Thank you Karen for sharing this amazing home with us.
On our trip from Sydney Karen contacted us with information regarding the safety of roads following torrential rains. This was a very thoughtful gesture.
Our accommodation was beautiful. An historic cottage on the banks of a wonderful river. Vast garden area with beautifully kept garden beds.
Champagne, cake , chocolates, bread, eggs and a home full of wonderfully kept memorabilia awaited us.
Thank you for a most comfortable stay.

My close friend and I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hampden House in Kangaroo Valley for three nights. It was a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the charm and character of this historic home, as well as the warm and thoughtful hospitality of our host, Karen.
Karen's attention to detail and genuine care for our comfort made a significant impact on our experience. The little treats left for us to enjoy was a lovely touch. The elegantly furnished house was impeccably clean and inviting and was surrounded by beautifully lush, private gardens. It was a very enjoyable break and I'm looking forward to getting back there in the future.

Property is in pristine condition, inside and out.
The owners really care about their guests. Fresh bread, fresh biscuits and butter. Fireplace prepared just need to light.
Very thoughtful. Would definitely recommended the property. Can’t wait to book again
The Property and surroundings exactly what is needed to get away from a hectic life. We were only on the property for one day and that even made us completely relaxed. Karen is a champion and her quality in hosting is second to none.
Enjoy staying and taking a trip back in time.
It was an absolute privilege and a joyous experience having a few days to relax and unwind surrounded by Karen’s lifetime of memories.
Such a character filled home filled with beautiful antiquities and country charm .
Karen’s hospitality and gorgeous welcoming gifts were a highlight , every effort has been made to make your visit so special , luscious sponge cake , local fresh eggs , champagne and chocolates.
I could have spent so much more time enjoying this beautiful cottage , I fully intend to make a pilgrimage on a more regular basis.
Thankyou so much Karen xx
We were very impressed with the property. The owner had gone to a lot of trouble to make the guests feel welcome. The house was full of antiques and held something of interest in every corner. The extensive grounds with their beautiful gardens which led down to the river were magnificent. The pool was delightful and the location offering such a short walk to town was great.
