Enjoyed the Hilo coast

Enjoyed our vacation rental. Everything from a cooler to beach mats were provided. Very clean and comfortable. Location is a little hard to find if you come in at dark.

Good place to Stay on East Side of Big Island

There was a bit of an issue getting the TV to work, but Sandra was an excellent host. The place had a comfortable bed - important for folks like us in our mid to late 60s who have bad backs. A convenient place to entertaint another couple who was also vacationing on the island at the same time

Perfect for the two of us.

Location was good, quiet and private, only 20 miles from Hilo town. Large, roomey studio type apt was very comfortable for us. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, everything about it was as advertised on VRBO. We like to be away from all the touristy action, yet be able to make daily trips to see the sites. Sandra's place was perfect for this visit. If you like Thai food, you must try the New Chaing Mai restaurant in Hilo.

Relaxing in Keauu

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandra's in Keauu, so much that we opted to stay another night. The setting was very peaceful and Sandra has provided a lovely atmosphere with the apartment. She was extremely helpful to us and we would stay there again if we are on the Big Island. Her dog, Kai, is a love ! We will definitely recommend her VRBO to our friends.

Quiet hideaway

This is an amazing location if you want to be off the beaten track. The setting is beautiful and the home has everything you would need and then some. We enjoyed cooking breakfast on the lanai and having Kai visit. The frogs in the evening, salamanders and birds during the day added to the experience. Worth more than we paid. Thank you Sandra!

Excellent stay! 5 STARS*****

Sandra's Retreat did not disappoint! Sandra, Patrick and Kai (dog) were so wonderful and welcoming! The place was impeccable and there was nothing that we needed as it was completed stocked with extras. The bed was comfortable which is alway such a bonus. Sandra left us with a couple of papayas during our stay and they were from the tree - ripe and delicious. Thank you for such a nice treat for us to enjoy in the morning! I loved the fact that we had a washer and dryer rack so we could do a load of laundry during our stay. It was so peaceful and quiet - the cool evening breeze was perfect so we did not need the air conditioner. If we came back to the Big Island I would stay here again - no need to look anywhere else. Thank you so much for being such great hosts!

We came back

We love this place, it's the second time we've been here. It's clean, well taken care of, Sandra is a six star hostess....What else can be said, other than I had everything I needed when we got here. Thank you Sandra for being so lovely, we felt like family.

Beautiful in the Garden

Very nice retreat. It has all what you need and what is important for us. Easy drive to all Eastshore activities, very clean, friendly host, easy check-in, parking, wifi, kitchen (you can cook and grill outside). If we come back, we will choose it again.

A few days in Hawaiian Paradise

Sandra was an excellent host. You can get a preview of the excellent Big Island Botanical Gardens by getting a first hand tour of Sandra's many plants that she lovenly tends. Google had trouble with the address but we found that Google knows Sandra - just say "navigate to Sandra's Vacation Retreat". The place was very clean and as advertised. We enjoyed our stay!

Tranquil Paradise

Sandra provided a very private setting with a well appointed apartment. Little far out but worth it. We enjoyed the sounds of nature in the morning making breakfast and having drinks on the lanai in the evening. Tastefully decorated and a comfy bed.

This property was our favorite on our big Island adventure. It was like a home away from home. Really enjoyed the Lanai and the furnishing and amenities were top notch. Some cute gecko's near unit. Good adventures to be had in the area. The dog Kai was special and the yard was beautiful. Would definitely stay again.

Highly recommended!!

Spent 3 nights in big island with my girlfriend and we loved the place, it’s comfortable, beautiful, has plenty of amenities and the location is great (very close to the beach). It felt like beeing home. Sandra was very welcoming, she helped us plan our daily itineraries and all her recommendations were awesome.

Quiet and lush setting

We used to live in the area and felt right at home. Lovely to be back on the Big Island of Hawaii. Sandra was helpful and attentive to our needs. The papayas were ono!

Peaceful, quiet retreat in Hilo

Property is just as you see online. Peaceful, the sounds of wildlife are wonderful and relaxing. Bed is comfortable. Owners have everything you’d need for day trips available. Closest grocery store is 15-20 minutes away, stock up when you see one! Kai, the dog, is a sweetheart🐶.

Quiet location, wonderful stay

Very clean apartment, all the amenities one could need, located in a quiet neighborhood just a short drive from Hilo. So many nice personalized touches, including snorkeling gear and a binder of must-sees in the area. We enjoyed using the grill to cook dinner out on the lighted lanai! Beautiful place and great hosts, would definitely stay again!

Very Comfortable.

My husband and I are considering a big move to the island. Hawaiian Paradise Park is high on our list as an option. This studio retreat is in the HPP neighborhood. It is homey, comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Sandra is a very welcoming host. The bed was so comfortable! It is attached to the home but very much a separate unit nestled in the back. Plenty of room to move about for two people. Well appointed and tidy. We did not have reason to use the air conditioner during our visit but it was nice to know it was there. The ceiling fans kept us cool enough. Maku'u Point is very close to this property and it is a beautiful, breathtaking sight. Lovely, hidden coastal walks close by. Saturdays the Maku'u Farmers Market just down 130 a few miles is very tasty, colorful and fun. Hilo and Pahoa are close by with great sights and places to shop and eat. We were driving distance from a trip to Mauna Kea, Rainbow Falls, Beach Parks and (my favorite) Big Island Candies. It was a wonderful stay with this nice retreat to call "base camp".

Wonderful hosts in paradise

Sandra and Patrick were wonderful hosts. There was an issue with the apartment we rented but they gave an alternative that was so beautiful and perfect. We really had a wonderful time in Hawaii and would not hesitate on coming back. Thank you for that wonderful stay.

This place is clean, peaceful, secluded, and has some nice extras

When I was looked for a rental, I looked for a place away from the populated areas. Sandra's place was perfect for me and my wife because it's away from downtown and all the crowds. Granted, you do drive farther to tourist destinations, but that the price you pay to have quiet and peaceful time when you're at the rental. The house is surrounded with greenery and tons of singing birds. The place was very clean, organized, spacious, and supplied with little extras for you stay. On a personal note, the washer and dryer was awesome to have because we travel light, so washing is necessary for us and not wear stinky and dirty clothes. I recommend this rental and if I revisit the Hilo again, I will choose Sandra's place to rent again. Mahalo Sandra!

Wie im Paradies

Wir hatten einen traumhaft schönen Aufenthalt. Abends auf der Terasse sitzen, grillen, den Coquis zuhören. So entspannt. Das Condo ist sehr gut ausgestattet und sauber. Der Empfang war sehr herzlich. Das Gelände wunderbar gepflegt mit vielen Blumen und Orchideen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und sind nur ungern abgereist.
