The Artist's Secret Garden

"Easy to find and check in. The apartment was historic, and the art was beautiful. The place was clean, felt like home immediately, was well maintained, and kitchen and bathroom amenities were bountiful. Internet wifi was fast (I had to upload large video files and did so quickly). I appreciated the communication prior to check in, and the written instructions and local tips in the host's guide book. Downtown was a quick 8 minute walk and very safe for female traveling alone. There are several great options for eating and shopping in the downtown area, including vegetarian food at the Mexican restaurant and Ethiopian lunch at the conference hall. The only complaint was the sound of a child running and jumping upstairs after 8:00 PM, which I would have expected if I had known a family with young children lived upstairs in the old house with wood floors. However, if one is used to that, it is a perfect stay!"

"We had a two room suite with one bathroom. There was an issue with the bedroom door sticking and the handle kept coming off. The TV in that room would stay on for about 15-20 seconds and shut off. When we told the man at the front desk, he couldn't have cared less. The room looked like it was in the process of being updated. It could use a fresh coat of paint. The beds were okay. Not the best, not the worse. One room temperature was very comfortable, while the other room was stuffy. Fairly quiet. The pool was in excellent shape. Not very warm for being heated. The spa was small but a nice temperature."

"We didn't realize that this home was built for veterans... a place for them to unwind, hunt, fish, and to enjoy their families and each other. The setting is beautiful with wide open space, a pond, walking areas, and is very tranquil. The home has two living areas and kitchens - perfect for large families - but very simple... almost humbling, knowing its true purpose. We (eight 61-69 yo siblings & spouses) definitely enjoyed our stay!"
