"After deliberating for a little while between giving this place a 6/10 and a 10/10, I settled on 10. I have never had so many opinions about a place before or written such a long review! But let me begin:
The place seems like it attracts two kinds of people. People who are just passing through and need a place to stay for a night (which is who I’d strongly recommend the place to and why I gave it a 10/10, and those looking for what it claims to be - a wellness center/spa.
As a simple no-frills lodge, it’s wonderful. Rooms are clean enough, cozy, right on the way to the Sequoias. The staff, as I will touch on, are an absolute pleasure and go above and beyond to help. We’ve paid more for far less cozy places.
As a place that claims to have various amenities, it’s an abject failure and frankly, deceitful. This is absolutely no fault of any of the staff. They are clearly overworked, overwhelmed, and I would assume underpaid. For instance, one employee doing housekeeping, is also on yard work, while also doing evening check-ins, while also making dinner for everyone staying there. How on earth is that supposed to work?! Of course things will slip through the cracks when they’re all pushed that far.
As someone who is pursuing a doctorate in Buddhist Studies, this place was especially disappointing due to its potential as a genuine place for people to relax and get a tiny dose of spirituality. Unfortunately, the “library” is a shelf of 15 random pseudo-spiritual books. Instead o"
