Amazing location adjacent to public access to Keawakapu Beach. Clean and comfortable. Outdoor shower was an unexpected treat. Would definitely stay again!
We really enjoyed the close location to the beach. People park along the road next to this house to go to the beach because of its easy access to the beach.
The owners were extremely responsive. We had a few issues that they responded immediately to, but I can’t say that about property management. When we had an issue and contacted them first, I was not impressed with their responsiveness.
There is only one bathroom/shower, and we were all a little hesitant about the shower being outdoors, but all of us truly loved it. An outdoor shower in Hawaii makes a lot of sense!!
Spacious & squeaky clean. We loved the short walk to a nice strolling beach with great whale, turtle and people watching. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and the yard and trees. Thanks!

Perfection in paradise!
Loved this cottage! Comfortable, cute, and clean! The location is perfect, just far enough removed from the hustle and bustle, and still convenient. We loved hearing the ocean waves crash from the cottage. The lanai and landscaped yard are gorgeous and made morning coffee so relaxing. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place!!!
The cottage isn't pretty from the outside, but nice inside. Easy walk to the beach. The master bed is a bit hard, but the full and twin are very comfortable. Outside shower was a fun touch.

Home away from Home
Our cottage was perfect for the 2 of us and quickly became our home away from home. Recently remodeled it is a very clean property loaded with all the ameneties needed for10 days. It is a fantastic location to everything. The short walk to a beautiful neighborhood beach is ideal for morning and afternoon swims. We are beach goers, and there are several other beaches not far that are just as amazing. We even discovered great snorkeling past Wailea towards Makena. Overall, this was just a great experience and look forward to doing it again!

The cottage was perfect for our family of five!
When we arrived the cottage was spotless. It was also stocked with many of the toiletries needed during our stay. It was nice to have the beach chairs, sand toys, and boogie boards as well. Furniture and decor is very cozy and stylish. A true 'hawaiian' feel! It was two minutes away from the beach and very close to all the restaurants and shopping in Kihei! But just far enough away that it was quiet. The best of both worlds. A few minor things arose and it was taken care of immediately. They were helpful and wanted our stay to be pleasant! The only thing I would say and it's not negative feedback, just a suggestion; a cooler or insulated bag would be great for those beach days. Otherwise it had everything we needed. Maholo! The Wolshlager family.

Literally paradise...
Mango Cottages is fantastic!!
Right from the initial point of contact with Yvonne for booking to checking out on our last day; everything was easy and felt right. Yvonne was easy to communicate with and always responded very quickly. We never felt like she was trying to hide anything or trying to make the accommodations sound better than they really were, if anything she undersold how good it is!!
We stayed in Cottage #1 which is the two bedroom cottage on the property. It is very clean and well stocked with anything we could have needed for our stay.
The kitchen has lots of dishes and containers for leftovers, great cookware and an abundance of small, countertop appliances as well. The living room has great furniture for relaxing on, a good size wall mounted TV and high speed wireless internet. The bedrooms have comfortable beds with clean linens and lots of storage room in dressers to get your clothing out of your suitcases. The bathroom and its outdoor shower, we loved the outdoor shower despite being skeptical about it prior to arrival.
In the back yard there is a decent sized composite deck with a BBQ, table and chairs. The yard is large, clean and obviously well cared for.
The location of Mango Cottages couldn't be better. Like the advertisement states...it really is only a one minute walk to a beautiful beach that is mostly uncrowded with great sand, small waves for the kids to boogie board on, and even a little snorkelling. All the amenities of Kihei are a quick drive from the cottage and if you want to go to somewhere else on the island the highway is five minutes away.
I definitely wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mango Cottages to anyone!! We absolutely loved our time on Maui and at Mango Cottages.
Thank you again!!!

OWNER DID NOT PROVIDE ACCESS TO HOUSE TILL 3RD DAY; otherwise satisfied with rental.
The most important reason why this is a one-star rating is because despite 10+ attempts trying to reach the owners by text, phone, and email before arriving at the house, I did not establish contact until the 3rd day on the island. It was only by a stroke of luck and a helpful neighbor that I got in the house. Our family of 5 would have been stranded on the island without a place to stay. TOTALLY UNACCEPTIBLE! (Tip to future renters: the code to the house is the last 4 digits of the renter's phone number.)
It was very upsetting and disturbing when you're already on your way but you don't know if you'd have a place to stay. That was a horrible start to my vacation. Thankfully a neighbor told me how their door code relates to their phone number, which helped us figure out ours. After several more attempts calling the owners, I finally reached them on our 3rd day in the house.
OTHER THAN THAT, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A 4-STAR RATING.
Now, more about the house.
POSITIVES:
I can't speak highly enough of the location. Look at the map. I couldn't have asked for better.
The back yard is nice and shady.
The owners let us stay late on the last day to catch our late flight.
Beach chairs, sand toys, beach towels, beach umbrella were available (though the umbrella was partially broken).
Nice and clean interior with cool tile floor.
Outdoor shower is cool, if you're into it. No shower inside.
Big outdoor grill; however 1 of the 3 burners didn't work.
NEGATIVES:
For a rental for 5, it only has an outdoor table on the deck for 2. That seems like an easy purchase that the owners didn't make.
No AC in the small bedroom with the two twin beds. No closet in that bedroom either.
The owners didn't leave any condiments or spices left behind from previous renters. We're used to seeing these from previous rentals. The fridge and cupboards were bare except for pots, pans, plates, cups, utensils, etc. So buy your own ketchup.
No rice cooker.
No filtered water. Fridge has no water dispenser.
No indoor shower if you don't like the outdoor one.
Beds and furniture are of basic quality.
Need cushions on the dining room bench.

Great! Just can't do Laundry
The dryer was covered in some sort of clingy dirt balls. I tried to spray it down to see if I could quickly wipe it up but after 10 minutes of trying to clean it, I gave up. Really bummed about this. There was also no sponge, which made it difficult to wash our dishes well. However, everything else was awesome! Great spot!
My husband and I enjoyed staying in the Mango Cottage. Check-in and check-out was super easy. The residential location was relaxing and quiet and next to our favorite beaches! A little too far for walking to dinner but within a short drive to a healthy food store and plenty of restaurants.
The air conditioning was a wonderful relief after spending all day outside. We loved the outdoor shower and other amenities the place has to offer, especially the powerful hose to wash off the sand.
We definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a comfortable and relaxing home base…with a yard large enough to enjoy and the mango trees amazingly beautiful and providing lots of shade. Too bad they weren’t in season, otherwise I’m sure we would have enjoyed eating those too.
We will definitely consider this spot again when we return. Mahalo!
This little cottage shouldn’t be judged on it’s external appearance, which is underwhelming. Once you step inside it’s instantly homey feeling and comfortable. The closets and cupboards are stocked with kitchen and bedding supplies to meet all your home away from home needs. AC units in both bedrooms and living room are key to comfort. They are a bit noisy, but in general having a stand alone house away from the condo/hotel scene is ideal for our family. The beach access is amazingly close and easy for a rental not directly on the beach. And having a wide selection of beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and water toys available for guest use is such a bonus. A bit of an odd setup with bathroom/laundry room combo and outdoor shower, but it works! Reading about the outdoor shower before arriving I was a bit nervous, but it truly is great! My one suggestion would be to add something to the stone slabs to quell the heat if possible (some sort of mat or tape maybe?), because otherwise they’re way too hot to stand on in bare feet. Another suggestion is to put the “office” room to more functional use (add a bed or couch, or convert to a second bathroom?), because that seems like a bit of wasted space. Owners were very responsive to inquiries. Highly recommend this place!
Literally an easy 5 minute walk from one of the South side's prettiest and most under-rated beaches (Keawakapu), Mango Cottage delivered big-time on location. Traveling with our two adult kids, it allowed us to come and go to a great beach as we pleased.
The cottage itself was clean, spacious and generally well-provisioned. However, it is on the spartan side, both inside and out. From the outside it is a basic clapboard structure with small windows that can make the place feel cave-like. Though there was a lovely grassy back yard with a graceful tree, the deck itself was small and there was only a small round cocktail table available for the four of us. With a bigger table and something other than a single harsh outdoor spotlight providing light, we'd have loved to be able to actually eat our meals outdoors. Instead, we ate all of them inside. (On the plus side, the propane bbq was almost brand new.) The outdoor shower was a big hit; but it would have been nice to have had more than 2 hooks to hang our towels .
These may sound like quibbles, but really they would be so easy to fix and we hope the owners consider doing so. Making the outdoor area more user-friendly would go a long way to make Mango Cottage 5 stars across the board. In the meantime, it's still a really well-located and functional place to stay.
Love this house, love this location. 5 min walk to the beach, easy parking, perfect little spot to BBQ in back on the lanai. Love staying here (this is our second time).
I very much enjoyed the condo and location. The property was clean, well decorated, and had a great yard. It was also conveniently located to the beach and Kihei city center as well as all of the public parks and beaches that Maui and Kihei have to offer. Would definitely recommend to friends!
Mango Cottage is tucked away in a somewhat hidden spot, away from the bigger developments. It's on a big piece of land in a great location. The cottage itself is spacious and thoughtfully appointed.
This cottage is fabulous! Conveniently located to Kihei and easy access to the highway to navigate around the island. The decor and finishes makes for a relaxing stay and having the AC units was a plus. The king size bed was comfortable and adequate storage for clothing.
The outdoor shower is one of the highlights of this rental. Standing on pumus stone and looking up at the stars is such a wonderful experience. The cottage is very clean and well furnished.
Loved having a gas grill for cooking dinner in but it was also an easy drive to the restaurants.
The owner let us put our luggages in the cottage before the check-in time and that was really nice of her. Thank you! The house has beach chairs and umbrellas to use which we loved. It has an outdoor shower which I thought was strange but came to enjoy it very much. The smaller room does not have AC but it has a fan which is nice and needed. It’s a cute and quiet place which I definitely recommend to anyone going to stay in South Kihei.
