Starfish Wishes is the ultimate getaway – ideal for a couple looking to relax and enjoy the gorgeous oceanfront that this retreat has to offer. Perfectly located with direct beach access, this oceanfront gem is just steps away from multitudes of dining options that are sure to tempt your taste buds. Not to be overlooked is the beautiful, in-ground swimming pool just outside your door and an eclectic mix of shops and family-friendly events for all to enjoy within a few minutes drive from Starfish Wishes. Unwind as you start each day watching the sunrise from the balcony while sipping your coffee, watch the dolphins frolic and play, listen to the seagulls overhead and at the end of a fun-filled day drift off to sleep listening to the waves gently washing upon the shore.

My weekend getaway

I came down for a relaxing weekend getaway and this was the perfect place. This time of year is my favorite here. Even the rainy, windy day was enjoyable. Sitting on the sofa, looking out at the churning ocean, with the fireplace going.....so peaceful. Gene was SO accommodating!

Bijou on the Banks

This is a jewel of a place to stay in KDH. As others have said, it’s quite a climb but the view and location make it worthwhile. Starfish Wishes is very clean and comfortable. The entire location was quiet and we quite enjoyed our stay. Would definitely consider this condo again when we visit.

Great Getaway Spot

We had a wonderful stay in Starfish Wishes. It was our first trip to OBX. The weather was not the best but Starfish Wishes was a great place to hang out and relax in. Gene was very easy to work with. He provided recommendations on what to do, where to eat, etc. which was very helpful to us. Hope to make it back when the weather is warmer!

We really enjoyed our stay at Starfish Wishes. It is in a good location for shopping and restaurants. I will say that if you have difficulty with stairs, then this may not be the right place. I appreciated the communication from Gene. His message prior to us leaving helped us to pack extra towels and things that we might need. Gene’s recommendations for restaurants were spot on. The condo was decorated cute and beachy, but the real showstopper was the view from the balcony. I would definitely recommend starfish wishes to friends and family.

Starfish Wishes was just as we expected. Wonderful! The owners did a great job with the beachy decor. The deck had amazing views of the ocean, with easy access to the beach. Great restaurants nearby. The owner was very easy and convenient to work with and replies quickly. Definitely plan to return.

Perfect Oceanfront Getaway in the Outer Banks

We had a fantastic short getaway at this beautiful 1-bedroom oceanfront penthouse in Kill Devil Hills. The early check-in and keyless entry made arrival super smooth. The condo was clean and perfectly positioned right on the beach.One of our favorite features was the pair of cozy captain’s chairs on the balcony—perfect for watching breathtaking sunrise, dolphins playing in the waves, and pelicans and sandpipers flying by. The views are unbeatable!The location is excellent—just a short walk to delicious local spots like Noosa Beach Grille and Stack 'Em High for breakfast. We also enjoyed browsing souvenir shops and loved having an arcade and ice cream nearby for a fun treat.If you're looking for a peaceful, oceanfront retreat with great amenities and easy access to everything the Outer Banks has to offer, this is it. Highly recommend!

Stunning views and easy access to beach

Upon arrival, the condo was exactly as pictured…clean, updated and a spectacular view of the ocean. You are right on the beach and the condo has easy access to the beach right from your balcony. This by far was the best part of the stay. The location is moments from a grocery store, liquor store and many other shops and restaurants. There is so much to do in Kill Devil, you won’t be disappointed with this location. The welcoming gift was such a nice surprise too.

Starfish Wishes was great

This was a perfect rental for being right on the beach. We had private beach access and a wonderful unobstructed view of the ocean. We sat on the deck every night watching the waves roll in. Gene was a great host and made the process easy. Plenty of places close by when picking meal locations. We found the Pokebox, Red Drum Grill and Taphouse, and Surfin’ Spoon to be great places. It is also close to a CrossFit gym where my wife enjoyed squeezing a mid day gym session in when we’d take a lunch break from the beach. Definitely recommend this location!

You can't beat the location. Plenty of restaurants and things to do within a short distance. Direct beach access from the condo. The condo itself was very clean and well-appointed. Loved the decor. Fantastic views from the deck. The owner, Gene, was very communicative and kept us up to date with cool things going on in the area, which was a nice touch. There are quite a few stairs to climb to get to the unit, but using the side stairs makes the climb a little bit easier than using the steep front stairs. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and we can't wait to go back!

Not a welcoming vibe

Positives: Starfish Wishes has a great location and beautiful views. Lots of cute beachy decor touches. It was quiet and private. Negatives: The owner sent us explicit instructions prior to arrival about the bedding on the one bed. We were under no condition to sit on the quilt or rest a head on a decorative pillow. Those things were to be stored in a closet tub immediately on arrival. In other words, we could see them when we walked in but never again. I would never ask that of a guest. If something is that precious, it does not belong in a rental. Once the quilt was removed, there was one thin blanket on the bed and no spares anywhere else. If we were cold at night or wanted to use a throw while sitting on the sofa, we were out of luck. The owner also itemized the towels in the bathroom: two bath towels, one hand towel, and two washcloths. Again, no spares anywhere. With multiple dips in the ocean and sometimes several showers per person in a day, that is just not enough. Heaven forbid I wanted one towel to dry my hair and one for my body! The skimpiness extended to the paper goods provided. The bathroom tissue was gas station quality and there wasn't a box of Kleenex anywhere. The first thing we did on arrival was to jump back in the car to go buy one. Honestly, this may have been the first negative review I have ever written. I don't like to do that to anyone but the owner needs to know how his actions come across to visitors.

The view is gorgeous. Sunrises were beautiful every morning. You can hear the waves crushing from inside. It was wonderful. The condo itself is clean with everything you need. You have plenty of room in the condo and is very convenient to everything. Have already made plans to go back next year!
