Beautiful views and amazing staff
One of the most beautiful resorts I have ever been to. It’s the definition of relaxation. Staff was very attentive, food was good, sunsets and sunrise's were amazing. Don’t come here expecting night life. Expect peace, quit and your thoughts.

Excellent for money. Great for relaxing although unless you happy just to sit on beach or swim in pool you need transport ie go on tour or hire motor bike. Great rooms, good breakfast

Deluxe seafront room was amazing, great size with outdoor shower being a bonus. Pool and view amazing, but limited seating. Food was average but some good restaurants in the area.

Private beach and hotel for a night
Extremely nice and welcoming staff. Hotel remained open even though there were no other guests. A very delicious and generous breakfast was also included. Room was very clean and spacious. All of the amenities, ambiance, staff, and beach were outstanding. Located in a safe and quiet neighborhood on the main road.

A quiet place to stay.
It is a quiet place to stay. Overall, it was a good stay but the resort should pay more attention to details such as cleaning and tyding up the chairs on the beach. We stayed in 3 different rooms duirng our stay and the beds were not the same. One of them was very soft that your body sank and it was not comfortable at all. The breakfast should be better and the food at the restaurant is a bit expensive. Not all customers go there for dinner.

The staff are lovely- our room was nice There is no beach just a broken down sea wall - big disappointment. The pool by the beach needs a bigger deck- so crammed. It’s says cable tv!? 2 channels with terrible picture quality.

The location and staff were excellent. The Island is quite but there are plenty of things to do. Outer trip was so relaxing and the complimentary breakfast was amazing. Located on the beach with a breath taking view.

Hmm...
The views and quiet lifestyle of Ko Yao Yai are surely something to see. (Although the world is full of quiet beaches and you can get the same experience for less) The accommodations and service,however, were unbelievable. As in, I can’t believe this is happening. For the sake of brevity I’ll leave a list of complaints: - not a resort; more a campground; open ceilings and poor insulation - Animals free to enter the room; bats, rats, lizards and insects were a regular issue - When I told the front desk my wife and I couldn’t stay in a room with bats they laughed replied “they are in every room. Not dangerous.” - After insisting and getting our new room, we found no bats but rats watching us from the restroom roof (again no ceilings) - Our last dinner was a burger and salad and it took 40 minutes to arrive soggy and cold. Meals are slightly overpriced - We were quoted 1400 baht for a boat out and taxi and were charged 1750. -all/ most fire extinguishers out of date / expired -witnessed an electrical explosion and short power outage overnight. -got shorted 10+ minutes on my massage. This location might be the spot for you. I did see people seemingly enjoying themselves. But just be aware; you get what you pay for and once you get here you’re pretty stranded.

Fantastic for total seclusion only
Lovely open air shower. Pool next to our villa was very salty for some reason but main pool was lovely (you have to walk down a hill and across the main road to get to the main complex). If you want total seclusion and no alternative dining or bar options then this is fine but we got a little bored of the same. The bed was very hard! But - it was a very very beautiful hotel and room.

Beautiful setting.
Would only return if room 2A available as right in front with a large shady tree. The beach is not a good swimming beach. The island is extremely quiet however if you want to explore the Scooters are good. Unfortunately the air con in our room did not work well and we asked for a pedestal fan (there were several around). However the staff didn't seem to concerned with our query and after saying yes they would supply one - nothing materialized. If you are not doing lots of boat trips 4 night stay is enough. Dining staff were great.

Cute bungalows, staff mediocre.
We chose this hotel for a quiet rest in the middle of a busy holiday. It was great for that. Bungalows were cute and well maintained. Pool was nice. We did book a long tail boat trip out to the islands and that was a wonderful day. Note the following: beach is mediocre and double check your bill before paying. Staff tried to charge us rack rates even though we booked with Expedia (about $20 more per night). I would also hesitate to book your onward boat tickets and transfers with the hotel directly.

Great resort
The resort is beautiful and the rooms are a delight. The service was ok overall. The staff weren't the friendliest but that's been my experience throughout Thailand. They were helpful though. I would highly recommend for couples seeking alone time together. This is not a party resort or island at all. I went solo looking for some peace and tranquility and that's exactly what I got.

One of the best places I have ever stayed
Simply stunning. The staff are wonderful and the views from the pool are gorgeous. The sand opposite is no real beach, but there are so many on the island, this is hardly an issue. The sunrise is also spectacular.

Lovely hotel, great for families with children. Staff is very welcoming and helpful. The views from the pool and restaurant are amazing and the room has everything one may need. It's all very priced and clean. There is a certain authenticity and simplicity in that resort which really made it feel like home to us

Amazing stay at Koh Yao Yai
Cannot rate Thiwson resort enough! From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with drinks and quickly taken to our rooms. The restaurant was delicious and had an amzing view of the islands and same with the neighbouring pool! Our room was Seaview and with a massive bed and couch. Staff are absolutely lovely and helped book everything for us; flights to Bangkok, renting scooters and even day trips to the island! Everything was well priced and for everything purchased at the resort (restaurant food, bikes, day trips) can all be payed in bulk when checking out! The island it's self is stunning and I highly reccomend getting a scooter from the resort to travel between villages

super cozy and comfortable bungalows, very clean. Great breakfast. Pool is also great. Only downside is not much around only one restaurant and covienience store up the road. We rented scooters to explore because we had to. Also beach is not so good for swimming.

Great place to stay, nice small and quiet resort. The staff were very friendly and helpfull. Keep in mind that this is a very sleepy island and there is little to do, you can rent a scooter to explore the island if you like. You can rent a cheaper scooter from the restaurant just 200metres up the road. They also serve good food. Food on the island is mostly Thai. Our 2night stay was great, thank you!

Large villa directly on beach. King bed. Front of villa all glass for spectacular view of ocean. Front porch with two recliners & table. Bathroom in back with roofless shower. Unique & fun to shower under the stars. Very friendly staff in restaurant. Food delicious but very small portions & expensive.

Idilic retreat with lovely overlooking beach views
Would recommend these bungalows . Intended to stay for just the one night and ended up staying another with one of t he larger upgraded bungalows on the front overlooking the sea Will def consider returning There isnt much around but thats want we wanted so happy to be isolated for a couple of days . Although there is a new building nearby which has a nice coffee shop and also convenient store and to the other side is a couple of restaurants although the food is fine in the resort. You would need to hire a bike if you need to see more of the island if youre staying longer in this island

Stayed three nights at this hotel. The hotel is relatively close to the pier where the boat from Phuket comes in. The hotel facilities and the room were nice and clean, but there's no A/C in the standard rooms. The staffs English proficiency is not the best and at times it was a bit hard to communicate.

My husband and I really enjoyed thiwson resort on our honeymoon. It is very secluded so don't expect nightlife. The pool was beautiful and the room was very clean considering it is a bungalow on the beach. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very friendly family running the place and location is very relaxing and good value. Scooter hire was expensive (and charged us for a day when we didnt use due to the rain, could have let us know) Good food and Drinks available, breakfast was ok. Our last meal was overcharged which was a shame. Ferry was 300 thb not 200 as advised when dropped off, luckily we had enough to cover (in fairness I think the ferry opertor was at fault here not the manager from hotel). Dont go to the expensive resorts elsewhere as this place is far better value and cleaner. We really enjoyed our stay and the faults mentioned were not major, beach clean up would be a great idea everywhere we would happily educate locals and tourist alike. Carin and Pom were awesome and hope to go back sometime its a great place for downtime

Mixed feelings about this resort... First night I stayed in standard bungalow with a fan, I got cold in the night so no air con was ok- bed was nice however pillows were lumpy. Upgraded to superior room for the second night and got air con which was nice for the day time - bed was nice and shower was good. Hotel- nice location however wifi was at times painfully slow or non-existent. I hired a bike which was great- it was safe and they didn't try to cheat you. My only real annoyance is they allowed kids to scream and splash in the pool at 6.30am which woke me up!

The only thing is the hotel staff dropped us off at the pier two hours earlier than the speed boat was leaving in the middle of intense rain fall. They need to get the pier schedule! But overall amazing place, we would stay there again.

Perfect getaway
I was a little skeptical at first as we pulled up to the hotel, wasn't quite resembling the pictures. The staff were super friendly and welcomed us with a drink. We were taken to our room which was across the road and uphill which had me even more worried. As we got there though it was exactly what I wanted- secluded and peaceful with a pool that had no one using it. The room was gorgeous and very traditional. Exactly what we wanted- quiet and tranquil. Not much to do on koh Yao Yai so if you want a holiday of sun and doing nothing this is perfect. Great little hotel at an amazing price.

Resort was great for a relaxing getaway. Pool was right on the beach and right next to the bar...always a bonus. Very very quiet resort where English is truly a second or third language. This can make communication difficult. We unfortunately had a fan room with no AC and essentially ruined our stay. We ended up leaving a day early because we were so uncomfortable. Don't get a room without AC!!!

For the price i was very happy with the overall experience the hotel provided. Beautiful view from the pools, air-con worked very well in the room, nice food.
