COVID-19 may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't shut down our desire to explore. Here are a few tips on how to deal with travel's new challenges:

• Before you lock in a flight, see if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your origin and destination. Get the latest updates by reviewing government and airport websites.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to adjust your mask to verify your identity.
• Do not hand your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA employee. Instead, position your pass on the reader and then hold it up to allow the agent to visually inspect it.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now allowed in your carry-on bag. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll have to take it out of your bag for scanning.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, such as your keys, phone and wallet, and put them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA agent will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.
