"Located near downtown and no parking is available onsite. No need to book in advance as there are lots of rooms available in summer time. We booked our early July stay in March and found out the rate in July was almost 50% lower."
"Our stay at Alda Hotel was very comfortable. The bed and sheets were exactly to my liking, making for a great night’s sleep.
The location is excellent and made it easy to get to our tour bus pickups. Everything you need is within walking distance, and having a Starbucks conveniently located in the hotel was a nice bonus. The hotel also has a lovely restaurant, and I especially enjoyed the cute outdoor hot tub just outside the gym, which also features a nice sauna.
The only downside for me was the breakfast (I’m a vegetarian). There weren’t many vegetarian options, and the selection was exactly the same all three mornings we stayed. The eggs didn’t taste like real eggs, and the baked beans tasted like they came straight from a can. On the positive side, the beetroot shots were delicious, and there was a nice selection of cheeses and fresh croissants.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely recommend the hotel. If you’re a vegetarian, though, you may want to enjoy breakfast elsewhere."
"The view from our room was beautiful. The rooms were clean and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was exceptional The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. What an incredible stay!"
"We had an excellent stay at Center Hotels - Plaza! We chose an 8th floor room with our own balcony, which are all on the back side of the hotel, which helped as I know others have said the plaza facing rooms can get a lot of noise from the plaza itself as there are bars/restaurants. The room was super clean, beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom was large and really nice as well!
The only thing is that the rooms get verrrry hot during the day when the sun is shining, we would keep the curtains closed and it would still heat up a ton - luckily we would just open the balcony door and the small window and get the fan blowing and it would cool off quickly, but I could imagine in a room without a balcony door to open and only a small window it would be way too hot.
We had shared it was our honeymoon and they left us cards and some treats in the room which was really sweet of them.
Tough that there's no parking, but there is a garage nearby and lots of street parking 1-2 blocks behind the hotel which didn't end up being that bad.
The location is incredible, the restaurants in the plaza with the patios are really fun and convenient, and the whole city feels very walkable from this hotel!
We would definitely stay here again next time we are in Reykjavik!"
"The evening clerk was very unfriendly. We were just looking around the breakfast area in the evening and she seemed to imply we were trespassing. It was strangely unnecessary."
"We've never seen or contacted with the staff, but that's okay, the check-in and check-out process was smooth. The pin code for door was activated at 3pm, not able to get in earlier if you try. The kitchen is very small, we booked with kitchen just in case, we ended up not cooking anything, but it looks like it should function if someone wants to do a light cooking."
