Beautifully appointed room. Felt like a restful oasis, after a strenuous day. Everything was the highest quality and the staff were helpful and polite and seemed to genuinely care that we were happy. Loved the place.

A great hotel. It is modern, comfortable, clean, quiet, and in a great location. The service is among the best we have had anywhere, better than hotels that cost twice as much. Every member of the staff that we encountered was amazing. The restaurant and restaurant staff is also terrific.

Great location, excellent service

The location was great, the service impeccable, and the room was by far the best place we stayed the entire trip to Japan. I would definitely recommend this place and their traditional Japanese breakfast was DELICIOUS!!!

One of the best parts of our whole trip to Japan

While "amazing" is an overused term these days, we were truly amazed at how nice this hotel is. We arrived on a very hot and muggy day in September after a long trip to Kyoto, and were blown away by the reception from the staff, the luxury of the lobby, the spaciousness of our room, and just the overall ambiance of this property. The included breakfast was delicious and a nice way to start each day. We visited other parts of Japan and stayed at other nice hotels on our trip, but the Garrya was the highlight for sure.

Excellent boutique hotel, hotel staff are all outstanding. Breakfast was included and very well done every day. Front desk were always prepared to assist with any request. Would definitely stay there again when back in Kyoto.

Superb Kyoto hotel

This is a gorgeous hotel, across the street from Nijo castle. Service is superb and meals in the restaurant were delicious classic Japanese fare. Wonderful stay!

This was the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. I almost did not want to leave for the days I stayed here. I did spend one long night here just to enjoy it and recover from all the walking around Kyoto I was doing. The breakfast that was included was some of the best I have ever had. I highly recommend!

What a fabulous property! We tremendously enjoyed staying there. The location is extremely convenient with a subway station within 5 mins and being situated opposite Nijo castle adds a certain charm. The food was delicious and the staff are extremely courteous and amicable. We will definitely be going back!

An amazing hotel with a fantastic restaurant. The staff was also fantastic. However, it would have been nice to have some more basic dining choices as every meal looked like a photo from a magazine. The food was great but sometimes a guy just wants a simple omelet for breakfast without the other 8 options that come with it. Maybe that's just me. Yes I'd recommend this place. However the location is a bit out of the way.
