We were met at the property on arrival and maps etc were provided. House orientation given. Great to be able to use the washing machine. A bit more detail would be better on that. A bit of a walk to the local train station but not too far.. A comfortable stay and we were able to get around quite well from the local station or with connection from there through Kyoto train station.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There were 5 of us traveling, my husband and I and our 3 grown children in their 20’s. It was spacious, clean, well appointed, and very convenient to the train station. Our host was very nice and greeted us as we checked in, gave us a lot of great resources on things to do and ways to get around, even offered to set up a Japanese cooking class for us and provided a mobile WiFi! There were 2 bedrooms and one tatami mat room with a futon mat that my 20 year old son loved. One bedroom had a double bed and the other had two single beds. There was a lot of room to spread out and a nice kitchen and dining area. It was a 7 minute walk to the Tofokuji train station that had both local and JR trains just one stop away from the big Kyoto station. I highly recommend staying here!

This was an excellent house for our first visit to Kyoto. It is clean, comfortable and beautifully presented with all the necessary facilities. The area is quiet and about 20 minutes walk from the main station in Kyoto, and 5 minutes from Tofukuji station. There are several nice restaurants near Tofukuji and a beautiful shrine with lovely gardens 10 minutes walk away. Many thanks to Nishimura San for making such a pleasant house available for us.

Our family of 5 had an excellent stay at Tara house. It is very well located and provides rapid access to many sights in and around Kyoto. It is extremely close to Tofukuji station and the Tofukuji shrine and also the very well worth visiting Inari temple with thousands of arches and a great hike. If you like running or biking it is also right next to the trail on the Kamo river. You can get trains form Tofukuji station or it is a 15minute walk to Kyoto station and all of the trains and buses that stop there. The house is well equipped for basic cooking and there are several small supermarkets near by with some larger ones just up the road past the hospital. The accommodation is compact but not cramped. It is clean and very well maintained. The owner- Kazuya- was very easy to contact and helpful with what to do and see, and any questions we had. He also sent us some items that we had forgotten. All in all an excellent stay and we would definitely stay here again.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at Tara House. The email directions from the train station were easy to follow and the gracious host met us at the property to orient us to the place. We used the washer/dryer, refrigerator, microwave and cooktop. We appreciated the heated flooring, nearby amazing burger restaurant and 5-10 minute walk to the train station and Family Mart. It was on a quiet residential street and there was a grocery store within walking distance. I made a mistake and thought we had booked the place one more night and the host was let us stay one night at the house right next door. We were very thankful for his help and compassion! We would highly recommend a stay at Tara House.

Cannot say enough lovely things about this house! Great quiet location, yet only a few minutes walk to the station and then one stop into the heart of Kyoto or three stops to Gion. Very handy. If you're a jogger, the river path runs right at the end of the street. Had no trouble finding it from the excellent directions given. Supermarket close by. House itself was spacious and clean. Bedding clean. Kitchen huge with everything you need. Bedrooms upstairs which was great for our four kids. Rooms all warm. Bathroom spotless. Excess towels. Would recommend this house in a heartbeat! Great instructions left and we felt very welcomed.

The Tara house was awesome! It's less than 2 years old and is a spacious property in Japanese standards. There are two bedrooms with Western beds that are very comfortable and a traditional tatami room if you want to go the futon route. The owner is easily accessible if you need him. It is a located a short walk from the station and a convenience store. There aren't a ton of places to eat right around there and some information on that would be helpful. Such a great stay!!

We are a family of 5, so our biggest challenge was finding a centrally located place to stay in Kyoto that could accommodate us all comfortably. Our host, Kazuya's apartment ticked all the boxes in what we were seeking. It isn't a very large apartment, but it was spacious enough with the soda bed downstairs and the very modern and intelligently designed kitchen and bathroom which made it very comfortable. We were close to the station which was 1 stop away from the central station, so getting to all the sights was easy.

We were very glad to have chosen to stay in a house rather than a hotel - it was so much more convenient. Tara House is close to a railway station, one stop from Kyoto central station on the JR line and also on the Keihan line which transports you easily to major temples, shopping and eating districts. Getting around by train and even bus is simple. The house itself is quiet, clean and well kept, our host was available when needed. It was also easy to keep warm which was important as we had a few bitterly cold days,. Make sure you visit Tofukuji temple which is 10 minutes walk away and if you like Indian food and want a change from Japanese, try the restaurant Kathmandu about 5 mins walk from the house (near the station on the road to the temple). We were very happy with our choice of house.

Great space. Very updated. Good location (one stop away for Kyoto Station). This was the first place we stayed after flying into Narita and then taking the Bullet Train to Kyoto. We loved walking into this place. Great place to start our vacation after a very long day. Thank you. The place had everything we needed including a washer/dryer combo. In addition, host did a great job communicating. There were four of us that stayed here and we were all very comfortable. We would definitely recommend this place and stay again when in Kyoto.

It was a pleasant stay at Tara House. We were there last week and already missing the house. It is exactly like Kazuya's post, Modern, close to Kamogawa, picture accuracy 100%. Kazuya is amazing, he got all information ready for us when we arrived. Instructions are very clear too. Thank you Kazuya! Tara house location is perfect, very near to JR train station. And most of the busses there goes to town, where all the famous shrines and streets are. we had our morning walk along kamogawa, cool breeze and blue sky, Love it! Quiet neighbourhood. There are 24hrs convenient store near by and they have Takyubin service. We got them to deliver our luggage to Osaka. There are nice little cafe, sushi place and late night yakitori. We tried them all. Definitely will miss this little neighbourhood.

The house was exactly as presented on the website- really beautiful, clean and new. It was renovated with aesthetically-pleasing attention to detail. The location was great - in a quiet neighbourhood and just one stop on JR to Kyoto station. The space was great for a family. I would definitely stay there again!

The house is gorgeous and very comfortable. There were five of us, and it never felt crowded. The amenities were all very nice. The kitchen and bathroom had modern appliances, the shower was spacious, and the washing machine/dryer worked very well. The location was a little far from Kyoto station for my parents (they're not used to walking in general), but I thought it was fine. I liked that it was quiet and a little off the beaten path, and it's close to some beautiful shrines and temples. Nishimura-san was very responsive and professional as a host, and even came by to pick up the garbage for us on trash day. I definitely recommend this place. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is an absolutely fantastic find! The house is one station from Kyoto Station, so you can transition on JR (without having to purchase other tickets). It is on the edge of the main town and about a 10 min walk from the station. Other than getting to the Bamboo Forest and Monkey Park, you will need to purchase tickets each time you travel on the other train. The place was just as described, it is very homely, a great size (especially compared with what we had in Tokyo), the beds are super comfortable etc! Other than one in the small room which my 11 year old stayed in, the beds are western. One suggestion to the owner would be to buy a corkscrew, we bought a beautiful bottle of wine to have one night.. and finding somewhere that sells them was not as easy as it should seem. Everything else we needed, such as washing liquid, hair dryer etc was available. Our host was also fantastic, providing us with maps and a magazine on what was happening in Kyoto. Such great service! All in all, we loved this house and we adored Kyoto!! Walking to the nearby temple on our last morning was a bonus. (Note there are lockers on the station and the guards will let you through to load them without paying).

We visited this house in May, Kazuya was prompt in replying to our queries and providing us with information need to find the house. We arrived after dark, but had no problems finding the house. The house itself is only a short walk from the station and was very clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a little more space than a hotel room, especially good for families with kids.
