Solario Hotel, Kyoto: great location, pricey for what you get The location is the standout. It's easy to reach the main sights and getting around the city is simple, which makes it a very convenient base for exploring Kyoto. The rest of the stay was solid: everything was pretty good and nothing really let us down. The one drawback is value. Given what the room rate was, I expected a bit more, and it could be better for the price. Still, if location is your priority, it's hard to beat. Verdict: Recommended for the location. Just go in knowing the price is on the high side.

This property was walking distance to a bunch of markets such as Nishiki, Termachi, etc. There are lots to do around the area and very close to Kamo river with restaurants. I got sick when I got to Kyoto so the staff gave me English speaking medical clinics around the area. The property is nice and has laundry downstairs but there is a long wait time as everyone is trying to wash/dry their clothes. The breakfast is decent even though it is a bit pricey for Japan I would say. But there are variety of food. We also upgraded our room upon check in to have more space and they were able to accommodate pretty quickly.

The rooms, baths, and entire hotel was very clean. The buffet breakfast had numerous choices and empty trays were quickly refilled by attentive staff. The bathroom designs were lovely and modern. Ours had a privacy wall of plants. The rooms were a nice size and beds were very comfortable. Towels were provided regularly.

We stayed for 4 nights, the hotel is in a pretty good location for trains and city busses. The staff is very friendly and mostly stays out of your way unless you need something then they are very helpful. We didn't try the public baths but they looked popular. The rooms are very quiet and clean. The beds are very comfortable. We loved the seperate bath/shower areas. A short walk to a lot of interesting things.

This hotel was awesome! Friendly and helpful staff. The onsen was a nice experience. The room was large for a Japan hotel. The only room for improvement feedback I have is to have them have more washer and dryer machines. I had to wait 50 minutes just to get a washer. The dryer setting on the first cycle doesn’t dry clothes so two other people in front of me had to do another dry cycle. I also had to do an extra dry cycle. It was a little ridiculous having to wait so long to do some laundry. I think there could be a better system or more machines for guests. The location was perfect! Right next to a train and subway station which made it super easy to get around to all of our destinations. There is also tons of shopping and wonderful restaurants in walking distance. Overall, this was our favorite place that we stayed at on our trip. It was very nice!!
