"We liked the proximity to downtown and freeway. The daily Happy Hour with free drinks and appetizers was a nice addition. The complimentary shuttle service to nearby locations was a nice amenity although we didn't take advantage of it since you needed to reserve ahead of time and know the time of return.
The only negative is the bed was very soft."
"My family, ranging from newborns to grandparents, stayed at The Hive for 5 nights. This house was perfect. It is exactly as described and more. The photos do not do it justice. Having been to Paso Robles a couple times, I knew the area, but not with my family. This house checked all the boxes for our family get-together.The house is large. Downstairs is spacious. The two upstairs bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are huge (2 beds each). They were perfect for my son and daughter, their spouses and children. The downstairs bedroom where, my wife and I stayed, was smaller (queen bed), but was still well sized and we appreciated being in a separate space. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, cups and utensils for large family dinners and the outdoor BBQ and seating worked-out perfectly! The first day was hot (mid-90s). After that, temps were perfect (70s to low-80s). We enjoyed visiting outside on the covered patio taking-in the gorgeous vineyard view for most of the day. It was comfortable even at 3pm. We enjoyed sitting outside every afternoon and the BBQ and firepit in the evenings. One addition: They just installed an EV charger on the driveway, which we used! The location is excellent. It is serene and quiet, yet 5 mins from Highway 101! Downtown Templeton is 10 mins. Cayucos Beach is 35-40 mins. There are at least 6 wineries within 10 mins. DoorDash and InstaCart for Trader Joes, Albertsons, Ralphs and a multitude of restaurants are available."
"The Hive House was perfect for our group. Everyone was very pleased with the well appointed house and the bathrooms for each of the four bedrooms. (We didn't use the fifth double twin room.) The kitchen, breakfast nook and patio were our favorite places to spend time in the house. Waking up to the expansive views of the vineyard and the bird song was wonderful. With a little bit of tuning up on small details in the house it would be perfect. I'm already looking forward to staying here again!"
"Lovely old school cottage under very old and majestic oak trees overlooking a vineyard. We stayed at Suite 1, but be aware that they rent the 2nd floor (with exterior stairs and entrance) as Suite 2. We went during winter and there is not central heating, but they did have plug in floor heaters. There is a pot belly stove and plenty of wood, but we couldn't get it to stay lit. I am thankful that I brought my own cozy blanket. The first morning, my husband took a very cold shower. He found the water heater and adjusted the heat. The second day, cold again. He checked the pilot light and it was off. He is handy so easier for him to fix versus calling PR Vacation Rentals to send someone out. The cottage is tidy, but some of the windows do not have curtains. With not having central heating, it would be nice to have curtains to retain the heat of the portables. One of our wine glasses had lipstick on it and one of our bowls was dirty. Other dishes seemed to have a bit of oil residue, most likely from a guest not using hot water. The TV satelite went out, but all was well due to their DVD library. Old school for sure. All that being said, I would stay there again, but would tell others that it is considered a glamping experience."
