New to VRBO, we've been hosting on the competition's platform for almost 10 years. We've consistently enjoyed 5-star reviews and Superhost status throughout. Now, we're expanding our reach. Visitors to this cottage gush about its amazing location, huge fenced backyard and charming decor! The home is situated exactly halfway between the world-famous La Jolla Cove and Windansea beaches. This delightful, sun-filled cottage is loaded with period detail and modern comforts.
A walker's paradise, all the best that La Jolla has to offer is accessible on foot. A 3-minute stroll down the street to the beach or just one block to some of La Jolla’s most popular restaurants. The Village center is a 5-minute walk where you can enjoy the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art, play tennis or pickleball at the LJ Recreation Center, or go shopping. Lovingly maintained by the same La Jolla family for three generations, features of this historic, 2 bedroom, 1 bath home include a large grassy backyard, off street parking for up to two cars, and all the beach gear you’ll need for a great vacation.
Set on a corner lot in a lovely and peaceful residential neighborhood, this detached home enjoys natural light in every room and is close enough to the beach that you can hear the surf at night. Relaxation comes easily when you can simply throw some veggies on the grill while the kids play in the completely enclosed yard.
Constructed in 1925, the cottage enjoys special architectural details of its era, such as hardwood floors throughout, a storybook vaulted ceiling and rounded plaster archways from the living room into the dining area and entryway. The living room has plenty of seating for everyone to lounge on couches together to enjoy a movie on the 60” flat-screen TV. The home is stocked with kids toys hidden inside the coffee table!
The master bedroom features a queen-sized designer canopy bed outfitted with a luxury eco-friendly latex mattress. The 2nd bedroom includes a luxury full-sized bed as well as a toddler-size sleeper futon, suitable for a child 2-5 years old. A Pack'n'Play crib is available for an infant under 2 years. The quaint bathroom has classic tiled floors and a shower/tub combination with excellent water pressure.
The vintage kitchen includes all the essentials including plentiful counter space, gourmet cookware and all types of utensils/dishes for cooking, baking and serving. The dining room's French doors open onto the patio, making for easy indoor/outdoor living.
Enjoy meals in the dining room or alfresco under the shaded pergola. Outdoors, a table for six, a 4-burner BBQ, and outdoor-friendly table and dishware are provided. Truly, we've thought of everything!
We are new to VRBO since October ‘25. We began renting through a property management company in 2016. Their services lacked as can be seen in some of the reviews from that time. However, since then I have been self-managing and consistently enjoy glowing reviews, I asked Chat GPT to summarize my listing and reviews from my other platform:
Guests consistently praise this beautifully maintained older home for its historic charm paired with modern comfort. The property is described as “exquisite” and “full of character,” with thoughtful period details and an inviting outdoor area featuring a picnic table and shower. Its location is a standout — within walking distance to beaches, restaurants, and shops — making it ideal for visitors who love exploring on foot.
Families and repeat guests highlight the home’s comfort and convenience, noting that it’s exceptionally clean (average rating 4.9) and true to its listing (accuracy 5.0). Reviewers mention that the host, Erin, provides everything needed for a relaxing stay, from family essentials to local tips on nearby favorites like The Taco Stand and El Pescador. The combination of location, hospitality, and vintage charm make it a top choice for both couples and small families looking for a memorable getaway.
