Ranch Style, Private Home Near La Jolla Shores - Walk to dining, shops, beach

This single story home wraps around a large fenced in back yard encompassing 1/3 of an acre of lush, mature landscaping with big windows and high vaulted ceilings. Neighbors on only two sides of the property make it super private. We bought this house because we love the location. It's close enough to walk to the beach yet far enough away to avoid all the the beach traffic and noise. The location makes it easy to get in and out of La Jolla. There is a little bit of road noise from La Jolla parkway. The house is located on Ardath road, which is a dead end road, not a busy street. The home is set back far enough from the road to create a privacy barrier and block most of the sound.

Lovely home furnished with lovely antiques. Great location. Attention to detail with amenities galore. Had family stay with us. 6 adults and 2 kids, 1dog. A 3 night quiet/relaxing place to celebrate my mother 80th birthday is what she was looking for.. and we found it. Susan home is beautiful and clean. Wasn’t difficult to find and enter. The huge window in living room with fireplace and view from patio is so relaxing at night. The home is very spacious and kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our meals. It fits perfectly for families/friends and a pet. The doggy door was a plus.

The beach house was perfect for our family. Plenty of room to spread out and come together as a family. The backyard provided a large grass area for the boys to play volley ball and catch. The bedrooms were so comfortable, kitchen was stocked with all the essentials. A large TV in the family room also was great for movie nights. La Jolla Shores beach is close by with lifeguards for safe ocean swimming and restaurants with amazing offerings. Really enjoyed our 2 week vacation!

We had the best stay in La Jolla. This home is beautiful and comfortable. We had four adults and six kids... and had plenty of space. We enjoyed several meals cooked in the well stocked kitchen and ate in the back yard with ample space to dine and play. It's a fifteen minute walk to a great beach and the owners left boogie boards and beach towels which was so nice! We were in town for a soccer tournament and the location was spectacular to the fields. Next trip we will absolutely stay here again.

Great house for a group of 6-8!

There are 4 different large common areas in the house and yard for group interaction - the place is much bigger than it looks. Love the inside/outside vibe. Fenced backyard for dog/kids. Beds very comfy. Every bedroom has its own climate control and TV. And don’t get me started on the toilets … love them!

La Jolla Gem

This home with its back and front yards was a beautiful environment for my family to relax in. The weather caused some indoor time. The kitchen, furniture and beds provided a comfy feel so we could enjoy good food and conversation. Susan, our host was quickly responsive and helpful throughout our long weekend. The home is within walking distance to the beach and shopping. We had a great time and will return again.

Pulling up the house it has nice curb appeal. There is plenty of space indoors and a very large back yard, although in need of cleaning. There is a new refrigerator, a good stove, microwave and a nice breakfast area. The master bedroom is large with a nice bathroom and the most incredible automated toilets, all a plus. The fourth bedroom is outside the main house and through a laundry room. We found the house very dated and we encountered maintenance issue that the host argued about how everything previously worked flawlessly and stated it was not much an inconvenience. After 15 years staying at VRBOs, this was the first time I was very disappointed. Would I stay here again, NO. Would I recommend this house to a friend, NO. Would I recommend the host as someone interested in providing hospitality, NO.

Beautiful property and neighborhood

Susan’s house is lovely, and was more than enough space for our family (4 adults, two toddlers, and a dog!) she was on top of communication, and the property was well-stocked with anything you would need to cook with. We only stayed in for breakfast, and the breakfast nook was perfect for our two young kids. The backyard and doggie door was heaven for our dog, who quickly learned she could let herself in/out as needed throughout the day. The photos and description are accurate, the rooms are a good size, and both bathrooms have ample space. There are two pack n plays for little tots in one of the bedrooms, which was super useful for our family! The central heating thermostat take a little bit of patience, but we figured it out after a few minutes. There are a few stray cobwebs here and there, but nothing that a thorough cleaning wouldn’t catch. We came in winter so didn’t make too much use of the backyard or take advantage of the property’s proximity to the beach, would definitely come back in the summertime. Perfect layout if you have kids in bed, and you want to watch TV / play games on the other side of the house. Great house for a family or several families looking for to getaway for a week!

The Ranch in La Jolla is absolutely amazing! Family was in SD for my son's college graduation. The ranch style layout was perfect to accommodate 4 generations from great grandma to toddlers, no stairs, just one level of epic space and plenty of room. Troy was super to communicate with the entire trip and offered perfect local recommendations. Parking was great on the premise as well as on the street if necessary, never an issue. The area is gorgeous and you can see the ocean from the living room while having your meals. We'll definitely be returning!
