The Shangri-La of La Jolla

  • Enjoy upscale coastal living in this gated La Jolla home, ideally located just one block from La Jolla Village and minutes from Windansea and Marine Street Beach. This peaceful retreat offers easy access to restaurants, cafés, and shops while comfortably hosting up to six guests. Inside, the home features a welcoming living area with leather seating and a flat-screen TV, plus a chef's kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and a six-burner gas stove. A private back patio with a gas grill provides a great space for outdoor dining after the beach. All bedrooms are upstairs. The primary suite includes a king bed, cozy sunroom, and an ensuite bathroom with a jetted tub and shower. The second and third bedrooms each feature queen beds and share a full hallway bathroom. A half bath is located downstairs. Additional amenities include in-home laundry, free WiFi, and dog-friendly accommodations (up to 2 dogs).

Wonderful location in a peaceful neighborhood! Yummy selection of restaurants within walking distance of this property. Needs new furnishings throughout, especially family room! One small sofa is not enough! Four adults cannot relax comfortably! Not much more that caught us off guard.

This place was in a wonderful location and was perfect for our family. With the exception of the queen bed, which could be firmer/replaced, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms clean. The king bed was super comfortable! The WiFi router was unplugged when we got there and it took us a minute to find it (was in the middle bedroom). Texting with Vacasa to troubleshoot this wasn’t the smoothest although we figured it out eventually and they were doing their best to be helpful. There’s a ton of towels in the place, including beach towels. Extra sheets would also have been useful. The kitchen and the place overall is reasonably well equipped (we appreciated the rice cooker and the W/D). It was great to have parking in the property. The church organ in the front room was fun to play with! Just to reiterate, the location was spectacular and we would come back again!

Great location, house needs updating

The location is wonderful, quiet and safe. It was easy to check in and check out. It was great to have parking spots as well. The rooms and space are as advertised. There were plenty of towels and paper towels. However, the house is in need of major renovations. Everything is pretty dated and used. It was clean but the rugs are very old and many of the shades on the windows don’t work properly. The primary bedroom is pretty bright so if you’re sensitive to light you should bring an eye mask. The shower in the primary bedroom hardly works - we were glad to have another shower to use. The shampoo and conditioner provided were travel size and I’d recommend bringing extra depending on how long you’ll be staying. The kitchen has pots and pans and utensils but not much else. The knives are usable but dull. There are no essentials like salt, pepper or olive oil. There was soap and a sponge, as well as dishwashing pods but it would have been nice to have some other cleaning supplies to wipe counters and the outdoor table. Two of the burners on the barbecue weren’t working. We used the oven and it worked fine after we figured out how to use it - it wasn’t very intuitive. We didn’t use the stovetop so I’m not sure if that functions properly. We’ve stayed in several rental homes in the area and since this one is very dated the pricing is fair. It was comfortable and we stayed 4 nights, but if we were staying longer we might look elsewhere.

Beautiful and convenient

Our stay was lovely. We were all comfortable and the location was fantastic. It was very clean which allowed us to relax. The location allowed for easy walks to the beach and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

The house was in a great area of La Jolla. Check in and check out were easy and the house was clean. The only issue was the interior carpet, the furniture and the blinds really need updating. You could tell it was cleaned well, but it still felt dirty because the carpet was old and stained and the chair and couch in the family room were really old. The blinds were hard to work.
