Barge Bay - Home with 400 Feet of Sand Beach Steps Away!

Welcome to Barge Bay, a casual place where family and friends can enjoy beach walking, swimming, kayaking, reading, sunning or sharing a meal and a glass of wine.  Located on the “North” end of Madeline Island about a 20-minute drive from the Ferry Dock in downtown La Pointe, Barge Bay is named after the sunken dredge “Finn McCool” lying on the lake bed in front of the cottage shore.  The property features 400 feet of sand beach along with a fire pit to enjoy the quiet evenings.

Barge Bay is literally 75 feet from the shores of Lake Superior and the cabin features 2 bedrooms, a full bath along with an open floor plan from the kitchen to the living room which overlooks and connects to a large lake side deck.  This is a place to leave your computer and to do list miles away.

I bet this is great in the summer!

Shoreline is awesome! All sand. Fire pit, plenty of parking- yard and privacy are great. I’m assuming we were probably the first visitors of the season- a few cobwebs in the corners. Water STUNK- even after running it for several minutes multiple days. Fly tape was still hanging…and it was just above the toaster. It’s a nice old nostalgic cabin- could have been cleaner. Top of fridge was thick with dust….but overall a nice place to stay. Not sure if it was worth 2300.00 for three nights…especially with the weather-oh- and there was an old sink, tire and rope laying in the yard? Classy.

Nice property

It's a great property with awesome beach access. Home needs some improvements and cleaning. Since there is not a dishwasher, instructions said to sterilize silverware with bleach upon arrival. No bleach was provided & not informed ahead of time to bring any. We would stay again, but plan better for needed items.

Great Location and Beach

The only downside was the invasion of mice (therefore the 3 star)...in fact we brought one home - not by choice - in the shoe bag of my husband and you could hear them at night. They ate some of our food- but fortunately we also have a rustic cabin It was a fantastic beach property nonetheless.... We would return and I suspect they will deal with the mice - we did leave a note and there was at least one dead mouse the morning we left. So I say all and all it's great. Also it was a great place to bike - we were almost at the end of the island and could make a really. nice loop to the other side. Very quiet.
