Dissatisfied with bed linens and towels
The pillow cases on the pillows did not look clean. It appears a guest must have checked out before I was allocated the room and housekeeping did not bother to change them. They looked worn out and very used. Same with the towels. They looked overused. There was dust on a side table attached to a standing floor light in the room
This hotel is THE WORST. The pictures on Expedia make it look like a grand beautiful hotel but it is in fact a dark, dingy, damp and mouldy place. It is poorly maintained and the staff are not helpful. A cleaner simply walked into my room and started to move stuff, when I moved she ran out. I told reception and instead of apologising she came to my room to argue with me. Very disappointed. Their ATM stole NGN2000 from my account and when I brought it to their attention they said they didn’t know how to retrieve my money. The air con was leaking from the light fixture, there was no hot water, the carpet was stained, the bathroom was a damp little box with NO ventilation. I made the reservation for two but I got 1 cup, 1 mug, 1 bottle of water. The breakfast comprises of dinner leftovers and burnt croissants. The pool is dirty and is not treated. When you call to request something from reception you have to call multiple times and often still go there to tell them. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my worst enemy. It’s pure GARBAGE!

It does not look like a Mercure hotel
Really nothing exciting about this hotel. The bar and restaurant look terrible, the service is poor and very slow, most of the menu is not available. The gym is very small. It does not look like a Mercure at all I am afraid.

Good value, great location, clean/modern
Moorhouse is a nice hotel, in a quiet and very safe part of Ikoyi. I stayed for about 9 days. The room is relatively nice, good AC and modern bath facilities. Housekeeping was mostly good. The hallways are a bit shabby, could definitely use an upgrade in carpeting and lighting. The staff is nice, and hotel has a decent breakfast daily. The bar downstairs is also a good place to have a meeting or get work done. Overall, while some of their facilities could use upgrade/renovation, it was a good stay.
1. The receptionist gave us our key and casually told us to take the lift and locate our room no. We couldn't even see the lift . We kept moving around and located our room later.
2. We got to the room and the fridge wasnt working at all. The AC was also acting like a fan. I called the reception 5 different times to make thesame complain and was later told moved to another room. The other room was even smaller and tight. The toilet had urine and everywhere was dusty. I told them if the fridge and AC in the room could be repaired, we would prefer it. The fridge was repaired, the technician said the AC couldn't be repaired. The manager called us that there was another room but was in a smoking floor and i said i didnt mind. We waited and later decided to go to the reception, the man at the reception said the room was being worked on and he wasnt sure if it would be ready when we got back. Long and short, the room was never ready. We checked in around 2 and couldnt settle down in a particular room until 4.30 . 3. Their intercom was basically useless. If we wanted anything done, we had to go to the reception ourselves. We basically had to ask for everything from towels, to paste. They are really under staffed and sloppy
4. We asked our room to be cleaned when we went out and it wasn't done. I reminded them in the evening and the cleaner ONLY obviously laid the bed . I am disappointed in the hotel to say the least. Highest level of unprofessionalism ever experienced
I am absolutely delighted about this hotel. Everything is well thought out, the staffs are amazing and the property well-looked after.

Comfortable bed and friendly staff but needs work
Comfortable bed and staff are very helpful and friendly. Safe and reasonably clean but tired overall. Needs bathroom renovation and upgrade. Beds are very comfortable which was good and AC works well. WiFi is reasonable. Breakfast I felt needs work on staff front and food. The space is dark and not inviting. Needs freshen up.

Needs Renovation
Must have been a nice hotel once upon a time! Positives - location, quiet neighborhood, good sized rooms and working WiFi. Negatives - terribly smelly and musty corridors (at least in the old wing), limited options for non African breakfast, Extremely limited and rather expensive menu options for any other meals. Service at the restaurant really needs improvement.

I love the hotel environment especially the bar and restaurant services. The rooms were clean and spacious.
They need to change or completely remove the rug in the corridors. Totally unnecessary and gives the place a musty smell. The central Air conditioning needs repairs as the cooling isn’t very great.
Overall, courteous and professional staffs.
service quality is so poor. in ordering at restaurant, it takes huge time till bring (1 hours for beer, 2 hours for burger!) staffs at restaurant are not educated. poor attitude.
I asked room make up, but they did not do. everything is forgotten.
I recommend not to use this hotel if you don't want have an unpleasant experience.
I stayed in the Moorhouse for a business trip in the area. The hotels provides value for money. The atmosphere is more colonial, good but needs some maintenance. The staff is friendly and helpful (although I had to ask twice for the remote control of the television). The breakfast buffet is ok, not excellent. The bar is OK. Dinner choice is fine and in general was ok (unfortunately one of the dinners likely has caused a diarrhea). The swimming pool and gym are fine and not crowdy.

Had better expectaions but was disappointed.
The hotel location is fine but having moved here from fedral palace for logistics reasons and with both hotels costing about the same they are miles apart for everything else. I cannot fault the staff, they try but even then I reported a slow running sink in the bathroom and it was never fixed in the 2 days I spent here. I am a tea drinker and they left me the glorious amount of 1 teabag and 2 sachets of sugar and to top it off the kettle leaked. I could not even plug in the kettle without pulling the curtains slightly open due to the location of the socket.
The breakfast was not very good, the first day we thought we were a bit late but even getting there much earlier the following day we concluded it is just very disappointing. I have now stayed in 3 hotels in lagos and this was the most disappointing. The car park is pretty small but they managed to cope, the hotel wasn't very full when we were there.
The hotel is also pretty dated especially in the hallways etc with patches and stains on the ceiling. The rooms are however very clean, I would have left otherwise.
Unfortunately I will not be going back, there are many better alternatives in lagos around the same location and price range.
It's a really nice hotel. If you want peace and quiet and just want to relax this is a great hotel. They have a really nice swimming pool. Service was excellent.
My only real complaint was that the room card would stop working at times and I would have to go get it reactivated at the lobby. I did this at least 5 times throughout my stay.
The room was comfortable but in need of renovation. TV didn't work neither did the shower heads. When I turned on the water the first day of my visit, muddy water came out. Had to keep it running for a minute or so for the water to clear up. The lobby is nice and I liked the bar. There was a mixup with the driver I requested to pick me up from the airport and they sent two drivers instead of one and tried to blame it on me. Staff needs training. Would stay at better hotels next time.

Visiting from London
needed a quite place to stay in he midst of hectic Lagos Island. and Moorehouse proved to be the place.
I had a two-day reservation but I couldn't take a second night..I had to rush out the first morning. Rooms have this strange musty smell. The AC blew pretty hard but did nit really cool. I was sweaty all night. Room was very dark and not really dirty but not really clean either. Very dusty. All the hallways had that strange heavy odor. The comforter on my bed had too much body fluid stain. It was disgusting. I can tell that this hotel must have been pretty good many many years ago but it has lost its glory. Poor management I assume. I will never stay there again, never ever.
