Unbelievable Views!
This place is absolutely incredible. The views, the pool, the wildlife! Highly recommend a rental car so you can be mobile since it’s a dirt road trip to get groceries and cook in the fantastic kitchen! Alex is super accommodating and met us late at night to get into the house. We will definitely be staying here again 😎

Secluded Paradise in the Hills above Tarcoles
We ended our trip to Costa Rica at Villa La Loma, and cannot believe our good fortune to have been able to do so. Architecturally stunning, the house sits overlooking the jungle canopy and the expanse of the ocean beyond. The pool feels like an extension of the house and sunsets reflected in the water were incredible. The massive Flame tree framing the pool is apparently part of the territory of several scarlet macaws. Bats, frogs, cicadas, parrots and howlers all made an appearance. Thanks to Alexis who was very patient with us as we had a tricky time locating the property (don't use Goggle Maps!).

Wonderful property. From the morning and evening company of scarlet Macaus to the conversations with the local howler monkey to the daily visit of Iggy the Iguana, all from the majestic pool, our fantastic stay will be a lasting memory.

Pura Vide Paradise
La Villa Loma was one of the bright highlights of our trip. From the musical mornings filled with all sorts of wildlife sounds mixed in the faint sounds of the ocean (which is also within view) to the majestic views in the afternoons and early evenings around the pool, the property is very special. We saw monkeys and macaws daily, enjoyed watching them from afar while they also enjoyed the trees on and surrounding the property. The house is very nice laid out, with air-conditioned sleep area. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a get away from the crowds. Very peaceful and serene.

Nothing but nature in this
Imagine waking up every morning to the not so quiet but absolutely breathtaking calls and sights of not one, but many macaws… that’s pretty much every day, at least 2wice a day in this beautiful home away from home, but so near to one’s heart. Our time at La Loma was unforgettable and absolutely Pura Vida. Getting to the home required a 4x4, just like everywhere else in CR, however, not everyone is as cheerful & genuinely kind as the gate greeter who assured us we were on our way to Mecca 🤩. After following the flawless driving directions, passing many mango trees, cows, ducks, flora, fauna, birds (so many!!!) you’ll find yourself in a special kind of Paradise you’d never want to leave, and why would you? With 360 views of the most beautiful place on Earth, a living set-up that is all about LIVING & LOVING life. Make yourself gourmet breakfast burritos every morning, pair it with the best of beans in a classic CR pour over, and just sit in awe at the beauty that surrounds you. There’s a tree (well, many trees, but this one in particular) that serves as the hangout for a bunch of macaws - every morning & night, you’ll hear them before you see them and once you’ve seen them - Noah’s rainbow has been captured in flight. Alex was very attentive & made sure our time at La Loma was as picture perfect as the surroundings. Oh! And def don’t miss out on the nightlife!!! While smoking a cigar on the patio on our last night, noticed some light flickering in the grass - lightening bugs!!! It was like glitter! Hadn’t seen bugs light up like that, and especially so close to the ground! The only few notes I’d offer/suggest 1) The ducks 🦆, while we loved sharing our time with them, not so much the pool… so a gentle cannonball nudge reminder to get their feathers in a bit of a fluster, they will come back & try again, but you’ll be feather free for a bit. 2) If Covid clearance is a requirement for your return, proving our (hidden home!) residence was a little difficult - use the Hotel Cerro Lodge as a geo point, and then orient yourself from there. Otherwise, if you’re looking for the perfect place to getaway in CR, this is the place for you. Close enough proximity to “all the things”, but perfectly placed in that you never even really have to leave to get full Pura Vida.

Gorgeous vista from private pool
This house and pool are an architectural beauty. Gorgeous open design with sliding doors throughout that open directly to the infinity pool where you can take in the views of the mountains, ocean and jungle all at the same time. Macaws flying right overhead every evening and howlers in the background. This is a very secluded and private location down a long dirt road. There are not any grocery stores nearby and only a few little convenience stores and restaurants so plan ahead and stop for groceries in Orotina or Jaco so you won’t have to leave paradise once you’ve arrived. The kitchen is well appointed with a flat top grill and two burners for cooking up some great meals. There’s no oven. Wifi is a bit sketchy but worked well enough to do our video COVID tests before departure. Alexis is a great property manager and was very helpful in finding the location which can be a bit tricky the first time in. Location is close to the crocodile bridge which you for sure should check out as well as Carara National park where we saw lots of frogs, lizards, birds, snakes, and three different troops of monkeys. It was awesome and much closer than Manuel Antonio Park. The beaches aren’t far in Jaco if you want to learn to surf or just play in the ocean but honestly once you’ve made it to the tranquil isolation of this property you won’t have much desire to leave. I can’t recommend this place enough. We will definitely be going back!!

Once in a lifetime.
Unbelievable. So wild. So quiet. It’s out of a storybook. Take the time to meet Alex the guard, and his family. They make the trip extra special with their kindness and many animals. It’s like living in a National Geographic book. They stick the house with everything but food, so bring plenty of that. Because you probably won’t want to leave :) Howler monkeys roar in the distance at night. Macaws paint the sky. It’s a dream.

Beautiful setting, but a little out of the way
The house was beautiful, but it was a 15 min drive down a dirt road just to get back to the main highway and still another 20-30 min to any decent restaurants or grocery stores. Make sure to arrive during the day bc it was very difficult to find at night and no cell service. The directions were not the best, the first part of the directions give you an estimated distance to your turn but after that they dont leading you to believe the next direction should be right away and its not. Updating the directions to give estimated distances between landmarks would be helpful! There was no hot water in the house which wasnt a huge deal since it was hot out, until we had to take an early morning shower before the airport...that wasnt much fun! Unable to lock aome of the sliding glass doors. The pool was dirty near the stairs and edges and needs to be cleaned, but the kids still very much enjoyed it. The property is beautiful and be ready to see so many birds, monkeys , frogs and lizards. The beds and pillows were not the most comfortable. But overall it was a beautiful home, a fun pool for the kids, the on site manager was great, and beautiful views with lots of wildlife to be seen (including a neighbors parrot who loved to visit my girls! Lol)! Just little things that could be improved, but if you dont mind being outside of town its def worth it for the money!

This place is incredible!! The view is unreal! We will certainly be back! The only thing l don't like is the dirt road you have to take to get there 😕. It takes at least 20 minutes to get to the property from the main road. Please rent a 4x4 truck! There are no two ways about it you will want it for that drive up and down the hill. The house had literally everything we needed! Completely private too! Alexis lives in a house near the property and he was great!!! He made us bags of ice and brought a huge thing of fresh water. The house has seasonings too so you won't have to buy that stuff. There are three out door showers and three full baths! I would call it a perfect place if it was not for the dirt road 😏. Thank you so much for having us and we will be back 🥳

Just amazing!
This house is even better than the pics! The view was magnificent, the property managers were very accommodating. We hired the private chef, Carlos , for an evening. He was the kindest, sweetest man. The food was amazing! His company was amazing. Ps- he gives the beat hugs ever.
