"First, staff were very friendly and helpful. Another plus was the Irish bar that is within walking distance. Happy hour prices after 10pm! Overall, however, this felt more like a dorm room than a hotel. The room was clean and very basic. Recommended for an overnight stay but not for an extended stay. Did not try the breakfast so cannot speak to that."

"I always enjoy the Horseshoe for its convenience to I-10 in lake Charles. Been stopping since it was new. Hasn’t been long but already maintenance should be on top of carpets separating in hallways, bathroom ceilings peeling from moisture in the showers. Housekeeping should pay attention to mildew in showers and the debris in corners and under the edges of beds. Staff would do well to greet guests with a smile, and not fraternize in front of guests. Wish there were healthy eating establishments there, or in the neighborhood. These are minor. You will still enjoy your stay. But, come on management! If I wanted a cheap motel experience I would go there and I hope the Horseshoe doesn’t become that."

"Upon arrival, I stood at the checkout counter for 20 min while the desk clerk finish his phone call on his personal device. After checking in, I went up to my room. First thing I noticed was food still on the counter tops, floors smelled of sour water, and bed was not properly made. I asked for another room and was granted to look into getting another room. Upon initial inspection, same scene appeared. I then asked for a refund due the unsatisfactory conditions. The desk clerk stated a refund will go back on the credit card used. I have still yet to recieve that refund. This visit to this location was not my first time, but defenitaly my last. I would not reccomend this location or this Hotels.com site to book at this location again."
