"This is a very old and well-known hotel in the heart of Red Wing Minnesota. The staff were amazing and even went so far as they leave a nice card in our room to help us celebrate the reason we were staying there. The room was clean and had wonderful historic decor. Vibrant, wallpapers, old, classic furniture, etc. This is not a negative, but please know that the room we stayed in did not have a refrigerator, or microwave. I wouldn’t expect that in a historical setting like this, but I wanted to point this out in case somebody plans on bringing their own food or beverages. Maybe some rooms have that option, I did not request it, and like I said, please don’t view that as a negative remark. You can find many wonderful options for dinner and shopping either on site, or very close by. When in the area, please make sure you take some time to visit the Mississippi river, which is close to the hotel, take a hike up the Bluffs, which are also close by, and enjoy the sounds of the trains that pass by occasionally. "

"The house is spacious, very clean, and there are plenty of household items, i.e. pillows, blankets, towels, kitchen items to accommodate a large group. The host left thorough instructions for access to the house, with just a slight mix-up on entry codes...but the host was very quick to respond and help me get it straightened out. I would recommend this rental property to anyone wishing to come stay in Lake City, MN."

"This beautiful remodel in process is a wonderful spot on Lake Pepin that didn’t break the bank. The owners were super kind and we think they’ve done a nice job with this Motel rehab! We are definitely going to stay again. Thanks to Doug, his wife and the Sunset Motel!!"

"Could use a little TLC in the room (caulking around the toilet and around the overflow/faucet in tub) but otherwise the room was very nice. Breakfast was actually better than a lot of places. Not only were there waffles and pastries, but also scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, and sausage links. "
