We were very pleased with these accommodations. The hosts were kind and responsive, the location was perfect for our needs, and the setting very peaceful. Simply put, it is a beautiful place and we’d stay again in a heartbeat!
The house was immaculate with all you could ask for in a stay which exceeded my expectations and felt like home!. Pictures do not do this place justice. I'd stay here again and recommend to others looking in this area. Prompt feedback from the host who answered my questions. Beautiful views of the lake with gorgeous sunsets! Just a quick drive to Hancock/Houghton area.
We had a great time even with awful weather. All the reviews are accurate. Lovely, clean home on a gorgeous lake. Lots of driving but its the Keewenaw - we expected that. So glad we stayed!
Great house! Friendly and helpful owners. Everything we needed - WiFi, dock for fishing, kayaks, paddle boards, great shower, full kitchen, comfy beds. Spent time doing a fishing charter out of Dockside Resort in Gay, took scenic drives to Eagle Harbor and River, Fitzgeralds for lunch, Fletchers Otter Belly for ice cream, FJ McLain State park, Shutes and Carmelitas in Calumet and of course Dreamland.
Loved the property! Great view, quiet, and peaceful! House was very well maintained. Amazing shower! Would love to go again and would recommend to everyone.
The property is exactly as advertised! Beautiful lake front property with amazing sunsets. There is plenty to do and see in the area. It was a great family vacation!
We enjoyed our stay and the Location was excellent for our sightseeing day trips. The home was perfect for our needs and was handicapped accessible. Laundry facilities were excellent. Beautiful sunsets! Close to the boat launch as we brought our boat. Easy access. Timm and Becky were absolutely GREAT hosts. Timm was more than willing to help us out with boat/dock issues. Hope to return in 2026!
Toured Houghton to Eagle River to Cooper Harbor and places in between. This home on the lake was the perfect place to stay while enjoying the fall colors.
The house was great. Clean, with lots of amenities and right on the water. Very nice large dock to fish off. The hosts were great and very prompt to answer any questions we had. Lots to see around the area and great restaurants. Bed was comfortable and the shower was nice as well. Definitely recommend.

This home was a little gem for our family, it offered the perfect get away. It was quiet, beautiful sunsets. Our kids loved fishing of the doc. The location was great! The hosts were sweet and easy to communicate with. We are looking forward to next summer already.
We loved our stay at this property! Very nice place, ultra comfortable and nice and quiet. Timm and Becky are great hosts and they provide everything you could need. The location was ideal for the adventures we had planned and close enough to restaurants and businesses for convenience. We highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit this area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula!!
We stayed here during the fall color tour that we as a family of 3 take every year to the U.P. This place is awesome! It’s cozy, clean and it really was a home away from home. The drive around the lake may take a little time, but relax and enjoy the scenery because this place is worth it.
peaceful, quiet, enjoyed meals and downtime on the fantastic deck. Sunsets are beautiful and tranquil. Appreciated use of the kayaks. Property is well taken care of and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and using it as a basecamp to explore other areas of the Peninsula. We will be back.
This is a fantastic little cottage that was perfect for our needs. Helped move our son into MTU and decided to make a mini vacation out of it. The cottage is super comfortable with a large bathroom with huge walk in shower, laundry, comfy beds, just great !
I caught 5 fish off the beautiful large dock including a really nice pike. Only thing I found myself wanting for was a fishing boat or pontoon to rent.
If you want utter peace and solitude in the most beautiful part of Michigan look no further.
The cabin was immaculate. It had all the anemities you could ask for. Washer/dryer, fully stocked kitchen (with coffee, sugar, oil, eggs, flour, vinegar). The beds were so comfortable! And the view! Breathtaking! We fished from the dock and drank in the beautiful fall colors in the Keweenaw. We'd definitely stay here again, hopefully in the summer so we could enjoy the lake more. Thank you for sharing your home with us!
Had a wonderful visit and everything was great at this clean and comfortable home. Highly recommend the food and drinks at the Dreamland Inn - especially Mexican Monday and the fresh steelhead. Being able to dock our boat at the property was a great convenience for accessing both Portage Lake and Lake Superior. A good location for exploring the many activities available in the Keweenaw Peninsula. Also recommend the Thimbleberry margaritas at Carmelitas in Calumet. The fall colors were absolutely beautiful and we hope to be able to return again next year. Thanks for everything Timm and Becky!
We recently stayed in this beautiful waterfront cabin, and it was the perfect escape! The sunsets over the lake were absolutely breathtaking, and we loved spending our days playing in the water. The cabin was well-equipped with all the necessary appliances for cooking and dining, and the bathroom was stocked with fresh towels and had hot water, which was a nice plus.
The only minor drawback was the bedroom air conditioner, which was a bit noisy at night. It didn’t detract too much from our experience, but it could definitely use some attention. Additionally, having a backup power generator would be a great addition.
Overall, it was a peaceful and relaxing stay, and we would definitely consider returning!
We’ve stayed at many rentals over the years while visiting our daughter at MTU, and this one is definitely at the top of our list. The home sits right on the Portage with a large dock and deck—perfect for enjoying the peaceful setting and beautiful sunset views. We saw all kinds of wildlife during our stay, including waterfowl, deer, and even a bear that crossed the road a few miles from the house!Inside, the home was spotless and very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and modern with a clean, tiled walk-in shower and more than enough towels. I really appreciated the thoughtful extras you don’t always find in other rentals—coffee and hot chocolate pods for the Keurig, plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, and even access to cleaning supplies. The washer and dryer were also a great bonus. You can tell the owners truly care about this home. They've created a welcoming, well-stocked, and worry-free space to relax. We’d definitely stay here again!
This sharp, clean property was even better than the pictures! Two seemingly new comfortable couches gave our party of 5 plenty of seating in the family room with breathtaking views of the lake. The bathroom was clean, bright and had a large granite shower with lots of fresh towels. Tim and Becky were great owners who were available for any questions or needs. The Kitchen appliances were full sized and appeared to be nearly new.
The availability of Kayaks and the Paddle Board were a huge plus on the lake.
The long and extra wide dock was sturdy and great for fishing or sitting around in the sun. We were about 10 minutes from a sandy beach and swimming on White City Beach with its pier and Light House on Lake Superior.
We are grateful for our relaxing week.
