Willows Cabin at Lazy Oaks Resort
Willows Cabin at Lazy Oaks – Small Cabin, Big Mountain Vibes
Looking to run away from your inbox and into some fresh mountain air? Willows Cabin is your cozy 1-bedroom hideout at Lazy Oaks Resort — perfect for two people who like their nature with a side of WiFi.
Sitting right on the edge of Rainbow Lake, this little gem comes with a gorgeous view and zero need for hiking boots just to see water. The lake’s fully stocked, so bring your fishing pole and your best tall tales. When you're not angling for the big one, you can gather 'round one of three fire pits for marshmallow singe-offs, or challenge your partner to a game of horseshoes or volleyball (loser owes s’mores).
Inside the cabin: A king bed fit for a nap champ, a full kitchen for whatever level of “cooking” you’re into (yes, cereal counts), and a dining area for meals or card games that somehow get way too competitive. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace for cozy nights in, a flat-screen TV, and of course, WiFi.
Feel like venturing beyond your porch? Nearby you’ve got hiking trails, scenic mountain views, and Sunrise Ski Resort just a short drive away if strapping skis to your feet is your idea of fun.

Before You Book… Just a Few Things to Know About Lazy Oaks Resort-
We like to keep it real around here, so we’ve put together a few friendly disclaimers to help set expectations. Lazy Oaks Resort is a special place — rustic, beautiful, and full of character — but it’s not for everyone.
Yes, it’s beautiful here. Yes, it’s peaceful. But let’s be honest — when you stay this close to the lake and woods, you're signing up for a front-row seat to the wild side of the White Mountains. That includes bugs (despite our constant spraying), bats (they eat the bugs, so technically they’re staff), mice (adorable freeloaders), geese (loud and entitled), badgers (surprisingly bold), and yes... occasionally, bears (they were here first).
Now, don’t panic — actual wildlife encounters are rare. Most critters keep to themselves, especially if you don’t leave snacks out like it’s a buffet for the forest. But still — if the idea of a spider ruins your weekend, this might not be your dream getaway.
Pet owners, listen up: we love animals — yours, ours, and the wild ones that roam the area. But please keep your furry friends leashed and in your sight at all times. This is real nature, not a fenced-in dog park. Wildlife doesn't care how sweet your pup is, and we'd like to avoid any awkward encounters that end in vet visits or dramatic stories.
About the internet... Yes, we have Wi-Fi, and yes, it usually works pretty well — we’re talking about 90%-95% success, which earns a gold star up here in the mountains. But it’s not perfect. Our Smart TVs run on that same connection, so they may occasionally get “dumber” than advertised.
More importantly — you didn’t come all this way to watch reruns of your favorite show. You came for fresh air, starry skies, and that glorious lake just outside your door. We’ve got free kayaks, pedal boats, fishing, hiking trails, and enough sunshine to completely reset your mood. So shut the laptop, drop the remote, and go make a real memory — the kind that doesn’t need Wi-Fi.
A few more things to know… Lazy Oaks is home to 18 rustic cabins tucked into about 4 acres of private lakefront property. Yes, you’ll have neighbors. Yes, you’ll share grills and boats. And yes — that’s part of the charm. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself around a campfire, swapping stories, sharing snacks, and making new friends with people you never expected to meet. It’s a social kind of place — in the best way possible.
And those cabins? Many date back to the 1930s–1950s. They’re clean, cozy, and full of charm you just can’t fake — the kind that creaks a little and tells stories in its sleep. We’re gently updating them over time, keeping the best of the old while making space for the comforts of the new. If you appreciate character with your comfort, you’re going to love it here.
If you're looking for ultra-modern, sterile, and silent... well, we hear Scottsdale’s nice. But if you’re ready for a lakeside escape with soul — we’ve got a cabin waiting for you.
The bottom line? 100% of guests who arrive with the right expectations have a wonderful time — and hundreds return year after year. Lazy Oaks isn’t just a place to stay. It’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and soak in something real. We just want you to know what we’re all about — and if that sounds like your kind of getaway, we can’t wait to host you.
Just a heads-up: We do ask all guests to sign a short rental agreement before arrival. We didn’t want to go all “legal,” but our lawyers insisted — especially since we’re right on the lake, welcome pets, and offer free use of boats. Thanks for understanding!

The cabin was perfect for us. It was clean, comfortable and had all the necessities. My only complaint would be the space in the bathroom where the toilet is, it doesn't have much leg room.
My hubby and I booked this cabin for a holiday weekend getaway and were very impressed! It had all of the essentials (shower, full-size fridge, and close to amenities) plus beautiful views and quick access to the lake. The covered porch was perfect for watching the afternoon rain showers and having the separate sitting/sleeping areas was great for when one of us wanted to sleep in. A++
Great location, bath is old and need work, toilet was so near a wall that you can’t sit on the toilet, sink was old and needs to be replaced, the Tv and lighting was in living room were marginal.
Everything about this place is awesome. The owners communicated about check in and check out process the day before. The property was a tree lined grassy area on the lake. The kitchen had all of the right cooking utensils to make this super easy. The only thing we didn’t use were the boats. Dogs are welcome, and it was great being able to have him with me, a d all of the other people respected the leash rules, thank you! I would stay there again without a doubt!
Perfect for our little get away. Our only disappointment was not being able to get out on the water like we wanted to because the cost of the pontoon boat for just 3 hours was much too high. Other than that, great little place!
Thank you foir alloowing me to do this..The living room was very dark and needs pole lamps!!
The livingroom needs pole lamps and all the rooms need to be painted off white.Take down those dark curtains and put a light color up instead.the livingroom was very dark. the ifepot takes up half the room.I found it very, very gloomy.Would I stay again.Imspite of my down part, yes,I loved the lake and grounds.. They were very peaceful. My fav was the little front porch with a place to put the coffee......the railing!!please consider making the cottage have a lighter feel to them carl Marriott

Disappointed
The area was nice however our cabin was not. The toilet was not usable and not up to code. We had to drive to a gas station and use their restroom. We booked 4 nights and left after the 1st night.
