About this property
Adorable Cottage Townline Lake Paradise. Boat Kayak Fish BBQ Relax Swim. 2 BR
This modernized Cottage provides the perfect lake playground for your vacation.
ABOUT THE COTTAGE LOCATION AND THE LAKE
The cottage is 2 places up the inlet/channel to 250 acre all-sport Townline Lake, a modern experience, with deck, dock, grill, and all the amenities for four. Jerry's Boat Storage (on Schneider Rd) has pontoons for rent if you don't have one of your own. Come relax, play in the lake, launch a boat, use our kayaks & pedal boat, cook s'mores. Spend days outdoors or fishing, swimming, or bike-pedaling around the lake. Kids love to hunt the mighty turtles! & there's a firepit.
Attached deck sits over the channe filled with fishl. To one side is a community access lot with children’s swings. Corn-hole game for your competitive streak.
Fish bluegills, bass, crawpy, sunnies, or an occasional bullhead, or pike. There's a bass fishing tournament usually once a month, known for giving up the occasional trophy small-mouth!
WHAT'S HAPPENING CLOSEBY Hike west Michigan trails, enjoy West Michigan life. Nearby you can visit 4 new wineries, old orchards, or the cheese factory. Head for Amish farmstands for eggs, fabulous West Michigan fruits, and other so-fresh produce. Treat yourself to some of the best country ice cream at King’s Store, famous in these parts.
Head a little further west for Lake Michigan’s pristine shores. Or cast a line into any of Michigan’s more than 65,000 waterways & rivers, and lakes – 11,000+ lakes larger than 5 acres. Here you are never more than a few minutes from some kind of water, nor more than 85 miles from a Great Lake.
Are you looking for a quiet getaway, or to explore west Michigan? Grand Rapids, 'Craft Beer City USA', is less than an hour away, have a taste at the original Founders. Or sample your favorites and taste an all-new ale at nearby breweries- there’s been an explosion of local/Michigan craft breweries in recent years, not to be missed by the new ale or IPA lover.
And there's a casino in Mt. Pleasant, 45 minutes away.
ACTIVITIES ON TOWNLINE LAKE
Two kayaks and a paddle boat - and there is a public launch for your own fishing boat or pontoon. You will tie off here at your own private dock.
An island ‘sandbar’ and the shallows – take a bag chair on a kayak to the sandbar, tie off and sit ankle deep in water on the sandy bottom. Read. Cocktail. If you’re lucky, get called into a game of water-volleyball. Head to the deeper water and swimming-hole cove. Townline Lake's waters warm in June and cool mid-September.
Enjoy birdwatching – we host all of Michigan’s woodpeckers here, we feed the orioles through June, and the hummingbirds all summer. Watch the Buzzard ballet from your deck.. their graceful sky gliding is beautiful to see. Watch Harriette, the great blue heron, as she wades the edges for crawfish.
IN THE COTTAGE
The perfect 'new' place for a getaway for a single person, a couple, or a family/group of four. It’s a fresh welcoming space, 17.5’ x 17.5’, and has two floors with new cottage comforts. Queen size bed down, twin beds up in the loft, (we can add a twin air mattress if you need - with linens), a little 2 bedroom cottage fully stocked Pets: it is a pet-free environment, no tobacco, pot, or vaping permitted inside or outside.
It includes your choice of cooking surfaces, some kept in drawers… a Nu Wave Cook Surface with Nu Wave pans – with Instructions for the first time user. A standard two-element burner in another drawer. Two outdoor grills. A griddle, crockpot, micro-wave. Firepit. Eating space for 4/5. NO OVEN. TV with ROKU for streaming.
A locker, and baskets and shelves provide more storage space. The downstairs bed is high, with several large tubs underneath for your extra clothes and provisions. Upstairs is a good place to put less-used items.
A queen-sized bed is on the main floor. The upstairs is short. It is a peaked room, 5’ 5” standing space in the middle, it's a hideaway, beds raised just nicely off the floor. Two camp chairs look to the channel. And (just) enough space in the attic to add a single air mattress for a five-member family.
Next door, just inside the back door is a washer and dryer for your use.
There's a flat screen tv and dvd available - tv reception is nil - and ROKU for your streaming services. But there's so much nothing to do, that no-one has yet said they miss having TV. Some have said "..what was I thinking?" There is reliable WIFI.
A 12x12 deck is perfect for reading, grilling, fishing, relaxing, watching boats pass heading to the swimming hole.
ENJOY MICHIGAN!
There are several other water businesses around - kayak, canoe, boat, or float - on nearby river trips . We’ll help with information and directions to the Little Muskegon River, or Big Muskegon River, Rogue River, or any of many other beautiful floatable – some pristine - waterways a half hour/less than an hour away. Newly in our area, a few wineries. Try your luck aat the casino in Mt. Pleasant. Hike the North Country Trail. Bring your bicycles - the Heartlan Trail runs closeby. Bring your ORV and enter the Huron-Mannistee National Forest a half hour from here. Most of all, fish, fish, read.

The cottage is clean, cozy and quiet place to stay. Very peaceful on the channel. Neighbors are friendly. Good restaurants within a 20 minute drive or less. The owner and manager are very responsive.
My wife and I had an amazing peaceful time at property. The amenities offered were great and we really had a great time. We had the opportunity to kayak for our first time, as well as catching plenty of fish. We really appreciate the opportunity to come out and stay!
This was our second visit to this property, and was just as we remembered. Cozy, quiet, with easy access to the water. The property is very well maintained, both inside and out. Kayaking and pedal boating are great here with the well maintained vehicles and equipment provided. The well water does take a bit of getting used to, but I was okay with it before we left. We will certainly be booking here again in the future!
We loved our weekend stay and can't wait to go back next summer. We were able to bring our pontoon and dock it right in front of the cabin. We spent most of our time on the lake and we caught lots of fish! Although we went out for dinner they had everything we wouldve needed to cook there. Excited to come back again and will bring the kids next time!
We enjoyed this tiny house experience on the lake very much! Appreciated the clean towels and use of the paddleboat. Good pizza in Lakeview. Great restaurant just 20 minute drive to Howard city. We will come back.
We loved the extra lawn chairs. They came in handy when family members came to visit. Everyone is very friendly, neighbors, owner, property manager, even the guy who takes care of the lawn. Couldn’t ask for better people.
I loved this place! And Jeanne is wonderful. The small deck over the canal is very peaceful. It clean, comfy and quiet. The cottage is more like a studio, so there is no living room. It was perfect for me. I would recommend this cottage to a single person, a couple, or a small family with older children (maybe 8 and older), as the steep spiral staircase would be unsafe for a young child. All in all, I would highly recommend!
This small cottage is in a very nice setting, right by the water (a clean smooth canal that leads to the lake in about 200 yards or so. There is a wood deck on the front of the cottage that extends very slightly over the water's edge. The cottage walls on the water side and along the side with the kitchen area are windows which is very nice. The water side wall has a door with window. So, there is plenty of light and a nice view. The cottage has the main level and an upper loft level. The main level is an efficiency apartment with a queen bed, one-side galley kitchen with breakfast/meal bar, a couple of chairs, a bathroom, and spiral staircase leading to the upper loft. The upper loft is a converted attic, so the center of the room is about 5 feet high and slopes down to the sides. It has two single beds on the floor.
PROS: Setting, reasonably well-quipped, walls of windows (with shades), great queen bed, lots of electrical plug-ins.
CONS: No towel bars in bathroom, clunky high school locker instead of armoire/wardrobe (meaning no place to hang clothes), no way to open windows in upper loft to vent heat ("they haven't been opened in twenty years") and fan up there is 1960's loud thing that you couldn't sleep with it running; clean-up/leaving procedures complicated and unreasonable (why are we paying for a housekeeper?)
For a couple alone, adequate to good. For a family of four, adequate to poor.
Yes, the property is small but there is room outside to enjoy the view. One big cavet .. in my opinion, this is a summer property. The floor is concrete and there is no central heading. The owner has a few rugs on the floor and a large space heater. It takes a good hour to heat the space. We left early as we were there in mid-October. The person who cleans it is lovely and very communicative. We would go again only in summer.
Thank you for a great stay! We really enjoyed our time at your place. It was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. We appreciate your hospitality and would definitely stay again!
Perfect for what my husband and I was looking for. We really enjoyed fishing off the back dock, relaxing and really enjoyed the breakfast at Chapz Steakhouse. Very friendly host and very clean. If you’re looking for a small cozy quiet get away this is the place to go.
Pictures in the listing made the cottage seem somewhat bigger And a little more private, but all in all, the stay was very nice and would definitely recommend this place.
We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. It was very cute and comfortable, and the deck on the water was perfect for fishing. We also loved taking the paddleboat out into the big lake. Everything was as described, and we can't wait to go back again!
Great property for a weekend get away. Our teen and friends enjoyed the paddle boat and kayaks. Great fishing! You could catch sunfish right off the deck!
My wife and I were looking for a quiet getaway that was reasonably priced and on the water. This met all those requirements. We were also able to easily access nearby attractions.
Had beautiful weather, kayaked for the first time, took many pictures of the flowering lilly pads, downtown was exquisite, counting down the days until we can do it again.
We had an amazing time! To seeing the fish right out the door, they're waiting to be fed. To seeing the most amazing bird living right in the bushes by the kayak launch, look out for her!! We paddle boated out to see the sunrise, kayaked, and played lots of games. It was the perfect little weekend away. Thank you so much! We will definitely be coming back again.
Easy check in, cute place. Owners were friendly. Good location for a long weekend. A few good places for dining like Lake Blue Tavern (30 minutes away). Everything was provided. Overall, good choice!
