Terrific service and an excellent restaurant at this new hotel in Lalibela. The only downside is that the room got stuffy at night with the sliding door closed against insects; the hotel doesn't provide nets, and there's nowhere to hang one if you bring your own. The location is perfect for exploring Lalibela during the day -- the churches are very close by, and so are quite a few other hotels and souvenir shops. But do be aware that the hotel is on an unpaved side street, not on a main drag, and that you might not feel comfortable walking to and from the larger street once it gets dark. Moreover, your comings and goings will be noted by the kids who hang around on the corner and ask tourists for money, books, etc. No one wants to feel like a mark, and most tourists would be more inclined to patronize the nearby shops and restaurants if they weren't hassled for money, pens, etc. every time they went to and from their hotel. The only way to avoid it is to eat in the hotel or to take a tuk-tuk from door to door to another restaurant, which of course takes away the possibility of exploration and random encounters with the very friendly and exceptionally welcoming adult Ethiopians. Of course, you can also enlist one of the kids to be your unofficial guide, which will stop the others from encroaching and might even make you a new friend in the process.
