Wedding weekend
This 1860s retreat had such beautiful views, it was big enough to house my bridal party for my wedding both upstairs and downstairs and was puppy friendly for my two large boxer pups. I would reccomend to anyone who is looking. It is not far from all Amish tourist attractions.

Gorgeous dog friendly farmhouse convenient to everything
We loved our stay despite the weather (it rained the whole time). The house was lovely, the pictures don't do it justice. There was plenty of space for the entire family to spread out, and I imagine we would have loved the outdoor space if it weren't so wet outside. There is a waterfall right in the backyard! It was great that we were able to bring our dog with us. We rented both floors in order to bring accommodate our family. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here next time you pass through Lancaster.

Our family had a wonderful time at this property! Having the flexibility of two separate floors, with separate kitchens and living space, gave us the ability to be in small groups or large groups. Suzi, our host, was very friendly and helpful. The backyard was incredible! Loved the waterfall, the fire pit, and having a beautiful park immediately behind the property.

Our stay at the home was wonderful . Everything we needed was waiting for us. I would follow the ow res recommendations. It is not a place for children under age 8, as it is close to the road.

We strive for a 5 star experience and we always feel disappointed when given less than 5 stars. More communication from our guests before, during and after the stay may have led to a more positive experience - though we were as transparent as possible to say that our home is not recommended for young children; however, plenty of families have enjoyed our home and backyard safely.

Easily accessible but nestled getaway
We had a lovely stay at the 1860's Retreat House. Having both floors, each with a kitchen was great for our group with 2 families (including 2 dogs and 2 teens). We loved the kayaks and paddleboards and the easy access to the park. The back porches are fantastic! We relaxed with books and enjoyed the view. The instructions were clear. The snacks were great for the teens. The dog supplies were helpful. We did not get to take advantage of the fire pit but it looked so inviting. We will be back and we will plan better next time! The only thing I would change would be to have a fenced area for the pups. The road is pretty busy and I was a little nervous that someone would take off and run. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

The host is very friendly and attentive with guests. The place was very clean, beautifully decorated, vintage and cozy. The nature surrounding was a plus for playing around, kayaking, hiking and fishing. So relaxing and welcoming. It’s close to Walmart, Target and recreation. Be aware of busy road in front of the house, and have your children and dog secure. Recommended and we want to stay again.

Wonderful Memorial Day Weekend
Though the weather was rainy, our weekend was fabulous. Our family of eight had a wonderful visit. Suzi was a terrific host. The place is well suited for all ages. We also had 2 fur babies with us . The house provides everything except family and food :) If the weather cooperated, we would have loved to enjoy the outside grounds. It would have been fun to play croquet or had an evening fire and smores. The location was close to everything in Lancaster. We had a buggy ride, went to the farmers market, Amish quilt shop and enjoyed lunch in a downtown brewery. We will love to return in the near future, as the house is equal distance for all our family.

Great place to stay!
I live locally and booked this property to hold a celebration of my son’s graduation from college. I wanted to invite my nieces & brother who live out of town but didn’t have enough room for all of them to stay at my house. This was a perfect solution. There was room for everyone. The layout was a bit confusing at first, it’s an older home, a bit rustic, but clean and comfortable. There is a beautiful waterfall in the backyard & we enjoyed the walking path in the park directly behind the home. The best part was that our Jack Russell was welcome to come with us. She is such a part of our family, we don’t go anywhere without her. Thank you so much Suzi! I would highly recommend this property!

Suzi is probably the best owner I have dealt with (and I've rented a lot of properties). She was easily accessible and responded to all of questions/texts within minutes. The house was better then we could have imagined, everything you needed was right there in the house (no need to get extra supplies at a local store). Perfectly clean and spacious with and enormous backyard and firepit. Couldn't be happier with the accommodations ! Our group truly loved this house and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and beautiful getaway. 5 star rating all around!! Thanks again Suzi!

Perfect old fashioned family holiday get away - invite the gang
WOW - we wanted to get the siblings and grandkids together to celebrate a special moment with Namo and could not have been more pleased with this facility. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas, we had a tree and did all the typical cranberries and popcorn, paper angel, etc. The hostess could not have been more accommodating - WE DID NOT WANT FOR ANYTHING. She even had items for breakfast waiting for us since we came in quite late on a holiday week, although there are groceries within a few blocks. It is centrally located, with many rooms to spread out in so crafts on one room, games in the other, discussions in a third, cookie baking upstairs with meals downstairs made kitchen not as crowded. The park is perfect for leisurely walks and we even had a croquet and canoe out since it was brisk but not snowy. The porch was a bit too cold for sitting but would be fantastic in warmer weather but watching the water and ducks/geese from the big sliding windows was quite serene even in a house with 13. We are already trying to figure out the next date that we can all get together and when we do this is absolutely the first place we will try to reserve. Yes it's old but the wood floors, antiques, and special touches are what make it so charming - the kids loved hearing the clopping of Amish buggies passing at night, even used the books on Amish in the house to realize yes they probably were out having fun at midnight which was not the first thought. Please use Suzi as a resource, we asked questions and she not only answered promptly but if we needed anything or had concerns she had it arranged and in place before we even could have time to think about it. We reserve VRBO at least 3-4 times a year and this was one of our very best experiences.

Perfect for small or large group
The house reminds me of my grandparents house. It is a lovely old place that has been upgraded with new appliances and perfectly working plumbing. Each floor has kitchen, large living area, dining, two bedrooms and a bath. There were 3 large flatscreen TV's; one downstairs and two upstairs. Our large group of eleven rented both floors and found it very comfortable. The grandparents and couple with two youngest children stayed downstairs, using the two bedrooms and sleeper sofa. Three other adults and two teens occupied upstairs, also using a sleeper sofa. There is a very large second floor deck that we used for a cookout. Sixteen people were not crowded at all. The house is on a lot with a river next to the back yard. Very scenic and lovely. The kitchens were stocked with coffee and tea, some snacks and a few basics. Obviously, previous roomers had left behind a variety of canned goods, etc, as did we. There was plenty of furniture, both indoors and on the deck. Beds were comfy; linens were nice. An added bonus was the use of a very nice laundry room. Overall, we were extremely pleased. A very few minor negatives: stairs are very narrow and steep like most old houses. There is an outside stairway to the second floor deck which would probably be the best way to bring in luggage. It is located on a busy street, on a curve. The parking was adequate but you must be cautious entering and exiting. We thought it was a real gem and would highly recommend it.

Beautiful setting for a family reunion!
We and three of our daughters' families enjoyed this beautifully situated, restored farmhouse. Having a self-contained kitchen apartment on each level gave some privacy when needed, but the gathering spots on each level and the upper deck provided lots of chatting space. The yard and view of the waterfall from the back are unbeatable, and the yard adjoins a park where we took a nice Sunday walk. The kids enjoyed playing ping pong on the old cement ping pong table and tumbling in the grass. Having space for our dog to join us made it the perfect spot for a Memorial Day weekend. Suzi anticipated our needs and immediately addressed a small maintenance issue that arose. We would love to return!

Perfect Vacation Home for Four Couples
My friends and I chose this house because the four bedrooms all have queen beds. This made it ideal for four adult couples--no kids' rooms with twin beds that someone got stuck with. The setting was lovely from top to bottom, from furnishings to amount of space through the beautiful view. Proximity to Lancaster city and nearby Wal-Mart, while still having the lovely nature scene in the background, made it an ideal location. We definitely appreciated the stocked kitchen. Only downsides were the road noise (not actually a problem late at night during sleep), and parking was somewhat cramped, but the rest of the amenities more than made up for it. I would definitely recommend this home!

Authentic farmhouse feel, beautiful views
Spent Easter at this beautiful place. Hospitality was wonderful, Suzi was very helpful. Bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen, ( we stayed upstairs) Was clean and had everything I needed and more! But my favorite thing was to sit in the living room or on the deck and bird watch while watching the waterfall. I definitely recommend this place.

Perfect, dog-friendly home and "home base" for exploring "Pennsylvania Dutch" country
My family (including grandma, tween son and two dogs) drove up for an extended weekend to spend some time exploring the area. We loved the house. The farmhouse has so much charm, but every convenience we needed. Suzi even stocked up on coffee, bread and yogurt for us. The setting is very nice, and the trails behind the house were perfect for walking the dogs. I was so happy that we stayed here, rather than in downtown Lancaster. Suzi's recommendations for food were also spot-on. We met Suzi when we came in, and she was so accommodating. We really appreciated being able to bring our dogs as well. As the listing mentions, the street in front of the house is quite busy, but the parking area is expansive and big enough to pull in and turn around. We'd love to come back sometime!

Welcoming! Friendly! Clean! Reasonable! PERFECT!
The 1860s Waterfall Retreat is just as the pictures portray & the Home Away From Home write up is spot on. We stayed during the July 4th week with our 14 year old grand daughter & none of us wanted to go home! We stayed in the upstairs apartment with 2 bedrooms, large eat- in kitchen & bright living room with couch and recliner. Pros: -You’ll walk in the door and feel like you’re home! Suzi has provided everything you will need from coffee & breakfast foods to Q-tips & band aids -she’s forgotten not a thing! -Suzi met us upon arrival & helped us into our apartment. The key lock box is like the ones realtors use if you are familiar with these. -Suzi was responsive before, during & after our visit. She is prompt, clear & attentive to your needs. She even offered to run out & get a blender for our apartment! -You can’t believe staying at this Waterfall Retreat that you are only 5 minutes from stores where you’ll be able to find anything you need. -The home is clean, decorated simply as an 1860 farm house in the Amish County should be, & is welcoming. My husband has had back surgery & found the bed to be extremely comfortable. -The yard & garden is well kept & friendly. We saw humming birds, a bright red cardinal, Canada Geese, ducks, a blue heron, a woodpecker, and blue birds visiting the yard! On July 4th we had Amish families visiting & the children were full of smiles! -There’s a small electric grill on the upstairs deck & another larger grill outside the downstairs apartment. -The location is perfect! You are 45 minutes from Hershey Park & an hour from Gettysburg (don’t miss the bus tour – it is well worth the time and money). The Amish Farm House & Amish Village (also recommend the bus tour – we all loved visiting with the goats, sheep, ducks, mules & horses!) are within 5-10 minutes. The PA Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz (it was one of the things listed in the many brochures Suzi left for us to explore – it was one of the top 30 things to do) has limited tours so you may want to call before leaving home to reserve your tour. -On Friday don’t miss the Green Dragon Flea Market in Ephrata. -There were guests downstairs, but we heard them only when we were in the living room & it was not disruptive at all. -The air conditioning worked well

Comfy, cozy farmhouse style home.
My husband and I visited Lancaster for our 25 th anniversary. Suzi's home made you feel like you fit in with the community. The property is beautiful with a large yard with shade trees, a creek with a waterfall and access to a park. We were able to take our small dog, Cricket, with us. She really enjoyed having the park next door. The home is convenient to everything. Suzi responded very quickly to any questions we had. She even had a bottle of wine and sparkling grape juice for us to celebrate our Anniversary. We will definitely recommend this home to our friends and family visiting the area. Sandra and Mike Law

Great!
My boyfriend and I were looking to take a last-minute trip out of town, and Suzi's place was the perfect getaway. The property is beautiful, the space is cozy and inviting, and the location is perfect - it's tucked away enough but is also close to downtown Lancaster and plenty of other attractions nearby. As a host, Suzi was extremely communicative and responsive, and made sure that our stay was as nice as it could be. I can't recommend this place enough, and we can't wait to stay there again!
