The 1860s Waterfall Retreat is just as the pictures portray & the Home Away From Home write up is spot on. We stayed during the July 4th week with our 14 year old grand daughter & none of us wanted to go home! We stayed in the upstairs apartment with 2 bedrooms, large eat- in kitchen & bright living room with couch and recliner.
Pros:
-You’ll walk in the door and feel like you’re home! Suzi has provided everything you will need from coffee & breakfast foods to Q-tips & band aids -she’s forgotten not a thing!
-Suzi met us upon arrival & helped us into our apartment. The key lock box is like the ones realtors use if you are familiar with these.
-Suzi was responsive before, during & after our visit. She is prompt, clear & attentive to your needs. She even offered to run out & get a blender for our apartment!
-You can’t believe staying at this Waterfall Retreat that you are only 5 minutes from stores where you’ll be able to find anything you need.
-The home is clean, decorated simply as an 1860 farm house in the Amish County should be, & is welcoming. My husband has had back surgery & found the bed to be extremely comfortable.
-The yard & garden is well kept & friendly. We saw humming birds, a bright red cardinal, Canada Geese, ducks, a blue heron, a woodpecker, and blue birds visiting the yard! On July 4th we had Amish families visiting & the children were full of smiles!
-There’s a small electric grill on the upstairs deck & another larger grill outside the downstairs apartment.
-The location is perfect! You are 45 minutes from Hershey Park & an hour from Gettysburg (don’t miss the bus tour – it is well worth the time and money). The Amish Farm House & Amish Village (also recommend the bus tour – we all loved visiting with the goats, sheep, ducks, mules & horses!) are within 5-10 minutes. The PA Wolf Sanctuary in Lititz (it was one of the things listed in the many brochures Suzi left for us to explore – it was one of the top 30 things to do) has limited tours so you may want to call before leaving home to reserve your tour.
-On Friday don’t miss the Green Dragon Flea Market in Ephrata.
-There were guests downstairs, but we heard them only when we were in the living room & it was not disruptive at all.
-The air conditioning worked well
