About this property

New River Gorge Bridge | Firepit | Walk to AOTG

  • Walk to Adventures on the Gorge, be at the New River Gorge Bridge in minutes, and come back to a comfortable place to land. Three bedrooms, two baths, fire pit, decks, fast Wi-Fi, and easy access to the trails, river, and Fayetteville.

    The Space

    You came here for this.

The New River Gorge Bridge rising out of the canyon.

The sound of the river below.

Long days outside that end with tired legs and something cold in your hand.

This home puts you right in the middle of it.

You’re less than 2 minutes from the New River Gorge Bridge and can walk to Adventures on the Gorge — which means your trip starts faster and feels easier from the moment you arrive.

    Right where the Gorge starts

Adventures on the Gorge — the area’s main hub for whitewater rafting, zip lines, rock climbing, and aerial obstacles — is a 0.3-mile walk from the back door.

Canyon Rim Visitor Center is 1.2 miles away, about 3 minutes by car.

This isn’t marketing math — it’s the actual location. You’re at the top of Ames Heights Road, right at the edge of everything this region is known for.

    The Stay

Originally built as a coal camp house in 1945, this home has been thoughtfully renovated into a comfortable, well-designed place to land after a full day in the Gorge.

It keeps a sense of where it came from — while giving you everything you actually want now.

    3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms

Bright, open living space designed for relaxing together

Fully stocked kitchen for easy meals at home

Fast WiFi when you need it

Comfortable, clean, and intentionally put together — the kind of place that feels good to come back to.

No washer or dryer — pack for the adventure, not the laundry.

    Outside

This is where your evenings happen.

String lights on. Fire going. The air cools down just enough to make you stay out longer than you planned.

It’s quiet here. Easy. The kind of space that doesn’t need much to feel right.

Swiftwater Café is about 350 feet from the door if mornings call for coffee you didn’t have to make.

Location (this is why people book it)

This is one of the closest places you can stay to the core New River Gorge experience:

2 minutes to the New River Gorge Bridge

Walk to Adventures on the Gorge

5–10 minutes to Long Point & Endless Wall

    10 minutes to Fayetteville

You’re not commuting to your trip — you’re already in it.

    What’s Nearby (and actually close)

This is what “right in the middle of it” really looks like:

350 ft walk — Swiftwater Café (coffee before the river)

0.3 mi walk — Adventures on the Gorge (rafting, zip lines, climbing)

0.4 mi — Smokey’s on the Gorge (dinner with a view)

1.0 mi — Burnwood Trail (easy forest loop)

1.2 mi · 3 min — NRG Bridge & Canyon Rim Visitor Center

1.8 mi — BridgeWalk (guided tour under the bridge)

1.9 mi — Endless Wall Trail (iconic overlooks)

    ~6 mi — Hawk’s Nest State Park

~10 min — Fayetteville (restaurants, coffee, shops)

~18 min — Summersville Lake (clear water, summer days)

What Your Days Can Look Like

Coffee on the porch. Slow start.

Then out — trails, river, overlooks, whatever kind of day you came for.

Back in the evening, a shower, something good to eat, and time outside while the light fades.

The kind of days that feel full — without being rushed.

    Who It’s For

Couples here for a few days of real adventure.

Families who want less driving and more time outside.

Small groups who want a place that feels easy and well set up.

If you’re here for the Gorge — not just a place to stay — you’ll feel right at home here.

Our family had a wonderful stay and Elizabeth was a pleasure to work with and an excellent communicator. Location was great and the house was as advertised by the pics (very comfortable, modern and clean). Would definitely stay here on a return visit. Added convenience of being able to walk to a general store for snacks and a breakfast sandwich/quick lunch.

Great place

House was wonderful- enjoyed the deck w/ fire table, the grill, and a kitchen with basically all of the gadgets. Beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. House was as well-very well done. Very close to Fayetteville and New River Gorge. The neighborhood is textbook rural Appalachia, but never felt unsafe in any way. Would definitely book again.

Property is clean and very conveniently located. The NRG Bridge is less than a mile and both the Endless Wall Trail and Long Point Trail are easily accessible within 15min. Some great Fayetteville restaurants (Secret Sandwich Society, Pies and Pints, Cathedral Cafe) are close by. Communication with host was superb - very responsive and super helpful, providing lots of information about the area. The house was nicely appointed with most anything you would need or want, and the porch firepit was a nice bonus. Several options for river rafting are also nearby. There is some road noise from Ames Heights Road so an ambient noise app might be helpful for sleeping. Overall, a very solid choice for accessing everything the area has to offer! Highly recommended!
