Air Capitol Cottage Leadville -great location-backyard-great for kids & pets

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil mountain getaway... we love our Air Capitol Cottage Leadville at 10,200 feet. Built before 1888, like many houses in Leadville, our cottage's uniquely sloping roof makes it one of kind and we love the cottage-y feel out to the amazing, private backyard. We also love the location, right off Harrison, close to our favorite liquor store, one block to the park, playground, and sledding. 2 blocks to downtown and the mining museum.

Air Capitol Cottage combines our love of the mountains and aviation! We love that the Leadville/Lake County Airport is a lot of pilot's "Everest"! 😉 At 9,934 feet, Lake County is North America's highest public use airport!

Our two bedroom home has one bedroom upfront with new barn door for privacy! Super cute room with closet, extra floor room for space/play and two windows! Then when you walk into the living room, it has lots of natural, a couch and chair, TV area and then blends into the dining room and kitchen. The nicely sized bathroom with shower/tub combo, stackable washer/dryer, storage and more! Finally, back to the primary bedroom with a queen sized bed, two closet and our beloved hobbit sized door out to the backyard!

The fully fenced, terraced backyard features beautiful aspen trees, propane firepit and chairs. It's a great place to spread out and let the kids and/or dogs burn off some energy safely.

Ski Trip To Cooper

The property is less than 15 minutes from the ski resort, and just blocks from the local grocery store. It was ideal for what we needed.

This cottage is amazing. It has history and maybe the floors are a bit crooked but that is the fun of Leadville. There is everything there you would need for a great visit...tons of extra linens and cleaning supplies. I had to leave unexpectedly but will book again when I can. The yard is enclosed with a privacy fence and perfect for dogs. The hosts are great at communication. I will be back!

Family friendly house with everything we needed to make our stay in Leadville comfortable. Location is close to many stores and 15 minutes from the mountain. Excellent in all aspects important to me

The cabin had almost everything we needed (we couldn't find the coffee so we bought some and left it for the next renter). It was very quiet and comfortable. The convenience to be able to walk downtown was a big plus along with close access to the awesome Mineral Belt bike trail. The sloping back bedroom ceiling and floor was unique along with the Hobbit door but it didn't pose any real issues. We'd would rent it again when back in Leadville.

Adorable Home & Great Location!

The home was perfect for our stay…comfortable, great vibes and superb location close to everything in the wonderful historic mountain town of Leadville. The property was as described and pictured, yet even better in person. Also the quick ease of getting to Cooper to ski was a huge plus. This property will be our go to for our Ski Cooper trips and/or visiting Leadville. Highly recommend…Awesomeness!!!

Location and character

This old house is well equipped and comfortable for our family. Centally location with easy walking to town and biking the bike path to cmc trails. Kitchen is tiny but well stocked with necessities to prepare a meal.

Love this little cabin!

We have stayed at this cabin several times now. We enjoy the quirkiness of a cabin that is well over 100 years old. The house was clean and the kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked. When we had a question, the owner responded immediately. The location is great for walking to downtown Leadville, convenient to Ski Cooper, and there is a walking/Nordic skiing path at the end of the street. We'll be staying here again!

Was a great location and cool vibe. The cottage “grew on us” over a few days and was the perfect place for 3 easy going dudes to stay for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB.

Nice clean lodging. Only issue was front elock not working one night. Would suggest owners also have a lock box on property for quick response if guests get locked out again

Perfect fall getaway

The house was cute and cozy. It was nice to experience a quant mining house and all it's charm. Everything was within walking distance with the dog and skate park about a half a mile walk giving us a chance to take in the charm of Leadville. We highly recommend going to the national mining hall of fame and museum, we spent over two hours and still didn't see it all.
